Homemade Hovercrafts?

My 8 yr old little brother brought up this idea and I have been looking at it for the last couple days on youtube. Has anyone ever attempted this before? It looks really easy. I would want to make something with a gas powered motor, and a thrust motor also.

They are very simple, me and jordan always talked about doing it. It would cost about 50 bucks if your crafty. They just never go very fast cause its hard to find anything with enough thrust
