Yup, I mentioned that earlier in the thread. I just don't wanna do the swap till I'm outa school and have a more steady income. If I swap it, I'm gunna have to go sti over wrx just because if I'm gunna drop that much money I might as well spend the little extra and get the more powerful motor.

Touche, son. I even read that part, good point tho on not messing with the motor too much, it'll just end up being a waste and you won't get your investment back.

STi block is also better because it is semi-closed I believe(if you are talking about the EJ257), the power thing is a less of a concern as most of it is made with boost/turbo anyway...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Yup, I mean you can make na motors quick, but what's the point when you can spend a little money and go turbo and make way more power and have much more potential. I really like the idea of swapping a stock motor into the car and gaining power. That way I keep some of the reliability as well 🙂

Anyways, I'm purposely not looking into what it takes to do a swap just yet because I know I'll probably just start buying little parts here and there if I do. I'm just gunna enjoy the slow car for a while and beef up the suspension a little. Thanks again for the kind welcome (again) guys! I'm sure I'll be meeting some of ya this summer!

well if and when u want to do the swap, you can Pm FG2 or go into tintmasters. they have done a couple of the swaps into the same car.

Yea I've seen (insert name here)'s red RS with the jdm sti swap. I'm not about ready to throw $5000ish for parts and then another $2000-3000 for install. I haven't asked em what they'd charge since I'm not going to do it for a while, but I'm sure having any shop do a motor swap is going to be hella expensive. Hopefully by the time I decide to do the swap I'll make some good suby friends on here that can lend a hand. I'm all about DIY and learnin stuff.

I take it you're a mitsu fan then? I love the dsms for the cheap parts and the fact that they are super easy to work on, but when I had my eclipse it just didn't seem very solid. I'd convert back to the mitsu side in a second if I could afford an Evo though 😉

Not to hate or anything, but that thread is full of more bs and drama than my junior high girlfriends' diary. I think there is like 4 educational posts in that whole thread.

I haven't looked into what all goes into swapping an sti motor, so I guess I can't say if I'll pay to have it done or not, but I can say that I'm a pretty determined guy and I've read a lotta threads about people doing the swap themselves successfully.
