i read the title of this thread and thought ".....is a joke" mainly because of the fact that there is now a shit ton of snow...and its still cold out.

and if anything, bring on the global warming...thatd be sweet to have nice 70 degree weather by now.

I've explained this like 10 times on here.

The UN's IPCC report attributes the majority of predicted warming to postive feedback loops that are hypothesized to exist but have never been observed, and which are discussed in fewer than 10 scientific papers, by 2 authors. And in these papers it is conceded that they're not sure if the feedback systems are positve or negative, nor are they sure about any of the constant values they postulate must exist in their models.

IOW: they pick values to show an outcome based on no observational evidence.

The amount of warming directly attributed to 1st order GHG effects is within historical norms.

Climate hysteria is the latest avenue for statists to consolidate or redistribute power. You can read this analysis on why cap-n-trade systems are what are being proposed (instead of a more reasonable "carbon tax").

                      http://www.coyoteblog.com/coyote_blog/2009/02/the-big-lie.html

[short version: a cap-n-trade system lets politicians award favors to their supporters. A carbon tax is uniform and lets people figure out whatever solution works best for their situation]

following years of announcements by a large about of respected scientists saying global warming is real, not to mention a literal media blitz on the subject.

Since Thrash took science, I'll take politics:

Who is the loudest politician pushing "global warming"? Al Gore. Does Al Gore really care about global warming, and stopping/slowing it? Someone who is actually interested in a cause that they believe is irreparably damaging the earth would do everything in their power to stop the CO2 emissions. What does Al Gore do in his personal life? Look at his ginormous mansion, is it "green"? Nope. His mansion alone uses more electricity in a month than the average household uses in a year. He drives around in big cars and flies on private jets. etc etc. Al has used global warming for his own personal gain (went from a failed presidential candidate to now making $175k per speech, plus book and video sales). Even worse, the whole buying/trading carbon credits is a farce and is just an additional tax on businesses so the gubmint can spend it on the goodies they want.
