Ehh like stated it was just a theory. All I know is the car over heated really bad something melted and all the valves bent... I dont know the whole story but I do know the engine is toast. She wont part with it for cheap because the engine is already going in soon. Its running the JDM turbos at 14psi each 28psi on the boost gauge and everything else is stock...
Peace!

28 psi on the boost gauge HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH I think you just put your own theory to rest there buddy......
-
28psi on stock injectors and pump....sweet....
and odds are it was the water pump (fairly common problem)
How many miles and how long ago was the tune up? Before it blew up that is.
-
Too bad he didn't have it on the dyno.
Wonder if he spun the tires any? -
The car could actually break all 4 wheels loose... It did 145mph in 4th gear at 4500rpm and was still climbing fast. It has about 120k on it and it was supposedly tuned up before he bought it at 117k. I know it had some aftermarket parts on it... BOV was definately aftermarket and VERY loud. Also the thing sounded like a fuggin jet taking off when we raced it loud ass swooshing noise at WOT. I didnt know jack squat about turbo cars back then so I didnt know that the boost gauge reading 28psi wasnt normal.
His mom is dropping in a used engine with like 60k on it out of an SL I beleive. Then she will be looking to sell it. Perhaps ill go take a look at it this weekend and check whats up with it. All I know is that the engine is fried because it was sitting at valley imports for like 6 months.
Peace!

So its gonna be a non turbo now?.. or is it gonna stay turbo with higher compression?
-
Well there were about 3 vr-4s sitting at valley imports forever. His was there about 6 months now its back at her house. Its getting the turbos and everything put back on and I dont know if its going to be an SL motor or VR-4 but I think she was talking about a wrecked non-turbo that she was going to buy the engine out of.
Peace!
Rob
