I had never had FWD or traction control till this past winter, and I gotta be honest I want my RWD back. I never really had too much trouble unless there was a lot of snow on the road, the 265's and all that torque meant that I went nowhere in deep snow. Had I put the stock 215's back on, it would've got around great. With any luck I'll be back to RWD or get to try AWD for the first time this winter. Oh and your balls get bigger if you can handle RWD in the winter, you also learn a helluva lot more about car control.

My winter car is RWD and I never had any problems except one time when I parked on a snow bank......

Just get winter tires and have fun. Or put winter tires up front and regular tires in the back for controllable fun.

I had studded winter tires for my Lexus and I didnt mind it, still doesnt compare to AWD.

I would agree that If you could, just grab a winter AWD beater. That's my prefered method, easier to swap cars than wheels.

But, if you get a dedicated set of winter wheels with winter tires you can do just fine. I would get the smallest diameter rim you could run on your car if you're able, and then get a rather small treadwidth winter tire. That's typically the recipe for success. Limited slip of any variety helps out a bit as well. On top of all else, take it easy around corners and you should be fine.

I don't see why you would want to run a 265mm wide tire in the winter in a rwd car, likely a sports car, that's just asking for it, really. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

I ran 265's because I couldn't afford new tires for the 14's and the old ones were bald from my abusive ways.
