          which one would you have

GT 500 Supersnake which is 720hp factory

          Corvette ZR1 which is 620hp

lol, factory tuned with no warranty.... vs factory tuned with a 100k warranty

really these cars aren't even in the same league to be compared

the shelby makes its power at 16psi and the zr1 at 10psi...... i wonder where the zr1 is at on 16lbs even with the eaton vs the stangs KB
          .
          .
The fastest i see out of the shelby is a 10.8-11.0 with a 134 trap on DR's
          vs.
even the lowly stock 505 z06 being in the 10's on DR's and a 128 trap

          **Zr1 is 5.3lbs per 1hp

          **Super Snake 5.41lbs per 1hp

and the aero is a joke to compare the 0-180, just like the road coarse would be

My supersnake would rarely, if ever see a road course. So I think I'll go for looks, sound, and size. GT500 wins every one of those categories.

What?!?!?! Probes, Sunfires, and V6 camaros sports cars, my sarcasm meter didnt go off so I'm hoping you're not serious and I just need to recalibrate it. A true sports car is something like a triumph TR6, the S2000, the Miata, the RX7 and 8, and yes in some cases the Vette. Mostly the Vette has morphed into a pseudo-supercar as they now cost a minimum of 50+ thousand for a new one. The Mustang is still what it was in 1964, a car that anyone can buy, given the proper motivation, and can be optioned up to be a true performer and something really special.

all im saying is that the classification of a "sports car" is not limited to your SLK's, DB9's, and vipers. They incude your miata, cobalts, and your G5's.

I don't know what your experience was like Gary, but I have driven several new mustang and loved them all. The plasticky dash is annoying but it was a very solid car and for the price not slow at all. I also drove a GT500 vert and it was the most fun I have ever had behind the wheel. Fast, big enough for me and 3 friends comfortably, an actual usable trunk. I fell in love. Is my experience with other cars a little limited, maybe, but I don't have the disposable income to build a 500+ horsepower street/strip car. I can however, if I play my cards right, aspire to a GT500 someday, if I don't have kids to worry about putting through college and whatnot, I could possibly even get a supersnake. The ZR1 however will probably be unobtanium for the rest of my life as they are going to be so limited and cost over 20 grand more than the supersnake. For that kind of money it'd better be faster.

The GT500's are all produced at Shelby American in Vegas, not on an assembly line per se. Tho I don't think they are 100% assembled there.

hmm.... considering that the thread is talking about the 725hp package

but yes there is a 605hp package that gets an awesome limited 12,000-mile/12-month powertrain warranty....
