I hope Favre plays this year as well in MN....he's not the answer to the Vikings offense, even though he is/was a great QB.

Think about this: If you look up West Coast Offense in the dictionary, when they start talking about QB's there will be a pic of Favre......and not even a footnote about the Minnesota Vikings.

Favre is known for his arm, not his ability to hand off the football....though I will give you the fact that he is more capable of handing off a football w/o fumbling than T-Jack is for buying a hotdog and not fumbling at the Dome.

Which brings me to the point that Peterson is the part that you should be building the team around. Putting him in an offense with Favre as QB is like pairing up Michael Johnson (100meters in 9.67 seconds) or Bob Hayes (ran a 100m leg of a 4x100 relay in the Tokyo Olympics in 8.6 seconds) with CapitlJ (Sorry Josh) in a 3 legged race.

Why would you want to take the focus off of your stud RB? Peterson IS the future of the Vikings, not Favre...(10 years ago, I'd have a completely diff argument on this) Why put your RB in a position that he can't shine in OR why put your QB in a position that doesn't suit his style. The Jets found out this last year....if you want Favre to play like Favre and win games....let him throw the damn ball (until he injures his throwing arm). If he throws the ball, how long before Peterson says "fuck it" and starts taking plays off? Or how long before he gets frustrated and demands to be traded? Is that what you guys REALLY want? If so, I could just as well be signed at QB, I'll do it for league minimum.
The Vikings got to see what making Favre the focal point of the Jets offense did with Thomas Jones last year. IMO, that's exactly why NY didn't make the playoffs and the Vikings will not make the same mistake if Favre signs. Come on, Peterson is the focus of the Vikings offense and will get 25 touches no matter who the qb is. Guaranteed.

Peterson won't take plays off, he's not that type of player. Not to mention Favre already knows his role in the offense before he even gets here. He is looking forward to actually having a running game with him, so he doesn't have to use his tired arm as much. It's actually the PERFECT situation for Favre, and he knows it.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Favre will be the reason Peterson looks like a fucking STUD this year. Here is why:

        1. Put 8 in the box and try and stop the run, he'll throw right over the top to the pretty good WR core
        2. Play back on those Wide Receivers and peterson will run on you ALL DAY
        3. Play falls apart and favre knows enough to make the short passes to continue to move the ball.

        It'll be interesting.

Or hell, even take a sack rather than throwing a jump pass or some shit..

He's thrown more interceptions in these situations than any qb ever.

He's probably also thrown more TD's in this situation than any QB ever too.

I may be wrong...and if I am that is fine. But that is still my analysis of how I think it is a bad move. You all bring up good points on him knowing his role with the team, but I can assure you that Favre still has the gunslinger instinct in him and more importantly (or tragically) an I must win the game attitude. I think IF the Vikings are winning the game he is going to look awesome doing it, but if they are down by 6 with less than 5 mins to go I see him losing the game (or at least some of them) by doing what he does worst....forcing the passes.

Trust me, it's very hard for me to talk shit about a guy like Favre (I keep reminding myself I'm really talking shit about the Vikings) who has brought me many of my most fond memories of the Packers.

IF you can keep him in check and doing exactly what GSR has posted, he can be a great addition...and I sincerely wish the Vikings, Favre (and their fans) the best of luck.

I'd rather be down 6 with 5 mins left with him taking the snaps than anything on our roster...and 5mins, shit thats enough time for AP to win the game too...
