Computer Question (USB Help)

A while back I did a reinstall, I reinstalled XP:MCE and I'm now updated to SP3 but my USB ports are only 1.1. Every time I plug something in it says that the component can operate faster and I can search for a high speed port but when I do it just says that I'm missing my hi-speed controller. The computer used to have 2.0 before the reinstall and I've looked everywhere I can think of on the net for help or drivers, even the motherboard manufacturer(ports are on board), but I've found nothing. Any help or insight would be most useful.

Drivermax... if nothing else pop up the MoBo specs here and see if we can find anything for you. Is it a prebuilt or a custom. Do you have the actual driver disks or just a recovery disk.

when you say "reinstall", i'm assuming that you mean media center edition was used before, right? you could always reinstall again. if that fails, suck it up, hardware just fails at random. you don't want to know how much stuff i've lost and seen die due to those random events.

Due to virus issues my last install was probably the fourth in about a months time, it freaking sucks. I also know about those random events, I lost well over a 100 gigs of music because my HD died on me.
I did also download Driver Max and it found quite a few outdated drivers but the only bad thing is is unless you pay for the pro version your only allowed 2 drivers a day, so I play the waiting game.
I might just have to get a USB controller card and hope that works.Thanks again for the help guys.:icon_cheers:
