Looks like even if your 360 is not modded, you could get the axe and Microsoft doesn't seem too willing to listen to anyone complaining whether it be legit or not..

I've had a few people who have been affected.
Rule of thumb for ban waves is this:
If you play games prior to release date, games with bad stealth files, games that were patched incorrectly by ABGX, you are asking to get banned.
Bans are not instantaneous, if you are playing on live, over the course of a year you may get flagged from improper use, and then when they decide to issue ban at the end of the year (usually around a big game release) you get notified.
It's not really a huge deal, your Live account and profile are still intact, just the console itself gets banned, which can be had from $80-100 for just the console itself.

If your box has had any modifications done whatsoever, there is a chance you will be affected. The further you go towards hiding your tracks, the more likely you are to not get caught [i.e. chips that can be completely turned of... running stock dashboard software, etc will help you avoid the banhammer]

So do you have to get a whole new Xbox to play on live again? Like what's the unique identifier? MAC address linked to your account name or something?
I don't play console games, but you'd think you could just change or re-mod something and say you got a new console.

You can dump and reflash the NAND if you want to get involved, but its not really worth it unless you can do it yourself.
Just go pickup a used console for $80-100, since they will already have all the cords and shit.
Walmart had a $100 Arcade special last weekend.
