if i still had my 90 quattro i'd be on this like white on rice. I might be willing to give it a try in my RWD track toy, but i have no snows for that thing..are there hard objects to run into? do they snow bank everything?
how wide is the sno-track at buffalo?
any possibility of doing timed runs at the beginning of the day and then doing drift/dick-around runs later ? The most fun I've ever had was at an ice driving event with the quattro club on their huge oval, trying to keep the car sideways as long as possible.
I don't know about the course or things that you could hit, but I would guess it would be setup with safety in mind (they run actually 'rubbins racing' ice races out there as well).
He did mention that drifting would be something we could do, so that is an option.
The guy left the event open for ideas, so if we get a big enough crowd interested (read: interested, and WILL show up), we can cater to whatever we want to do.

before I put this up on other forums, I wanted to make sure people locally would be interested. If it flops and people drive from Minneapolis area, that might be the last time we have a chance to pull from that group.
Trucks are welcome. If you go off the track (with the exception of the main straightaway), you will go out into a field/grass/snow. The exception on the main straightaway is a concrete barrier.
Like any automotive activity, there is risk involved. You could hit an ice chunk, or you could hit a hardened snow bank and crack a bumper/fender/etc... It is ICE racing, meaning the main ingredient is water pumped from the river as the driving surface. The guy stated that with the river water comes a lot of sand/debris, so it is far from a 'skating rink', but still ICE. That being said, you sign a waiver to race and if anything happens, you and your insurance company are responsible.
As far as details of time trials or competition goes, that is stuff we can vote on/iron out after we have decided that this has enough demand. As of now I have 5 people that sound 'interested'. I would like to see at least 15 from Fargo area before I take the next step. I will let this thread play out over the next week and decide mid/late next week.

Is there a date in mind? There would be 6-8 of them. They will be in the afternoon/evening of their regular 'rubbins racin' ice races (after they are done). They have lighting out there that can/will be used if this ends up happening.

If its anything like we run in Underwood, you better make sure you dont want to ever drive this car on the street again. Cuz your shit WILL GET HIT!!!! Its a blast to do. But its a very purpose built car. If they allow awd, you'll be a step above the norm cuz they outlawed them years ago locally and they only allow certain tires as well. Blizzaks, Nokians, and Ipikes need not apply.
