Trying to get a new chain on (530). Was going to try just hammering down the pin ends but I'm having a hell of a time getting the outside plate on the master (instead I pushed the pins out the back).

Or, good ideas to seat the plate?

Anyone have a breaker/press/rivet tool they're particularly happy with?

          Something like so?

I'm tired of having broken vehicles in the garage and running out of ideas for 'making it work' with random tools so I'll just have to order something to do it right I guess.

So is there a recommended 'break-in' for new chains? (It's a new Bikemaster O-ring 530 chain). I don't recall seeing anything with the chain about it.

No break in that I'm aware of. It will stretch quite a bit the first month or so, so just keep an eye on it and don't let it get too sloppy loose.

Sorry, wasn't able to get a hold of my riveter before leaving for Brainerd. No break in for chains but like Dave said it will stretch a good bite the first 500 miles.

that's fine, mine should be here tomorrow. I'd thought about trying to get it together for a road trip this weekend but I'm probably better off in the truck for 2 hours instead.
