Cell phone tracking

BTW not sure what you are thinking here, but there is no "secret" way to track a phone. Nor is there a ability for any retail verizon store to do so. No matter who is asking.
Also, this shit isnt like Fast and furious, you cant just call, say your officer o'connell, and give a number and recieve the location.
That being said, if there is a warrant, Etc. provided, and the everything is faxed and verified, with the legal department, it can happen.Of course, just putting a gps locater application, like family locator, would be the easiest way for tracking a stupid 16 yr old girl.
AND, yes, we could see the tower number that a call was recieved/sent from without a warrant, and yes that tower is given a "General location" i.e. all of the 11 or so towers here in fargo are labeled "Fargo." Obviously, no calls, no tower location.
oh, and there is no PING that they can do..........other than just calling that number.
Care to assume or read between the lines of my post a little more?
- I never said anything about a "secret" way to track
- I never meant that he could just call up a local store to do the tracking, I kind of figured he was smart enough to realize that
- I never said that it was as simple as CSI/FNF/Whatever other stupid show you bring up makes cell tracking out to be
Next time you should try clarify what I was saying rather than making completely wrong assumptions...

hook her up with GPS next time.

Whoever you asked very well may not be able to tell you where a given handset is. But technically, that answer is horseshit.
If the handset is on, its approximative geo location (certainly which city / service area) can be determined, irrespective of GPS or anything else. Otherwise cellphone roaming would be impossible.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Location_Register
Read that.
Then follow with:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visitors_Location_Register
Here's the pertinent quote:
Whenever an MSC detects a new MS in its network, in addition to creating a new record in the VLR, it also updates the HLR of the mobile subscriber, apprising it of the new location of that MS.
Every time your handset, while turned on, "registers" itself on a new cell site (MSC), the home MSC back here in fargo (or logically here in fargo, even if the physical equipment is somewhere else, this is the radio home endpoint) gets a message saying so.
Otherwise calling someone who was roaming from a landline telephone would be impossible.

Ugh teenage girls. I swear to god. Idiots

What 16 year old girl do you know is probably smart enough to stay off the phone by either calling or texting??
Well, apparently this one, since she allegedly dumped her phone on the side of the road.
I don't see anything to indicate the girl is stupid. Poor judgement, certainly.
For that matter, the myspace/facebook photo looked attractive enough to me. Looks like a typical girl who grew up in the web-cam age.
JN, the main problem you and your family face is helping this girl find the self esteem to not think that running off with a loser, all at age 16, is her best move.
This is a serious comment, and not a judgement of your folks or a dig at you: Maybe she felt she wasn't getting enough positive attention because your whole family has been focused on you beating cancer?
Nothing brings a family together like running away from home, as long as the kid comes back. Says so right in the bible.

The problem here is you didn't stop by Tintmasters to have Compustars latest creation installed in your vehicle! http://www.dronemobile.com/features/gps.html
On the real tho, DroneMobile is pretty darn cool.

Adding the word north now makes it a completly different name and town. Sioux city is a city in Iowa. north Sioux city is in south Dakota. He clearly stated Sioux city, not north Sioux city.
There for I'm still right.
All though.... touche sir
