Now we're getting somewhere. Like I said before, it would be awesome to do an all weekend ordeal like nick suggested.Derik and I have been working on this for a while now. There are some major politics involved and expenses to be had. We will keep you updated on the details. We were trying to keep it a suprise. But someone had to go an ruin it.. haha. We posted up the 4 solid days we set. And when we said "6 street Legal Events", I guess I should have said. 4 all day events and 1 two day event racing/car show/DJ/band/beer/girls/party. Sorry for keeping this from you guys. But we didn't have it final yet. And it still isn't. Bare with us. Thanks for being patient........

As everyone else has said, this would be an extremely big event. Sounds like Shane is already lining something along these lines up, which is awesome. I mean, come on we have a brand new track surface, a bunch of new stuff at ID, lets put some use to it!! That is fine and dandy if you want to keep it to the 30 Camaros, Novas and Mustangs that show up for the brackets, but if you want to expand the business into the future, ID needs to go above and beyond just the normal weekend bracket racing. I am not saying that Homer and ID haven't been coming along with all the street legals in the past years, those have been great and also a great start!! I know there is a lot more to it then just putting this on the schedule, so I hope everything gets worked out with the politics etc. so that we can all benefit from this. Great opportunity for all to be had.

Nick-Event being planned is similar, Holiday weekend, 2 day event (All Street Legal) with Sport Compact, Muscle Cars, & Hot Rods (kind of generations of hotrodding theme, then & now) and a "Booked" show (MWB or ALL American Funny Car Series)
Having a 3 day event may be difficult (Take daily expenses posted x 3, and increase Ins. costs, as once event has 2 cars going down the track, w/dial ins, ins goes up from "grudge" match style racing ins.....Don't ask me why, because it makes no sense to me, but must to the ins co.), A 2 day evnt w/ Camping, BBQ, Show n Shine, Car Show is not a problem, (Band/DJ is out, as per restrictions from Clay County as of now.)
Having a SL or Sport Compact weekend event w/ Q16, Brackets, Heads Up is also not a problem as long as participation/interest is there and in a heads up series enough cars /interest w/o so many rules, classes are small and competition is limited because of 1 or 2 really fast cars.
So, any ideas that would increase participation are very welcome.
You are right, Thunder Valley is a great place, tucked far enough out of the way, yet close enough to Sioux Falls. I used to travel there every "off" weekend in the late '90's (when I was still intimidated by BIR) and always enjoyed myself (except for the 280 mile drive)
The Rapp Family (Rapp Chevrolet) has owned the track for many years, with several different peaple leasing it. Hopefully they get it leased for 2005 and continue to offer Drag Racing for many more years. I remember when Tom Cain managed it when I first started, and Duane Boyce took over several years ago after alot of improvements were done. Hopefully they are able to get everything together for 2005.

There's no exceptions? For say if you got a permit for an annual once a year event?
Like i said get a hold of me if you need held organizing, promoting, or funding. I'll help because i want this to happen. But im not gonna put the time, $$, and effort into it and have it fall appart again.

SLSIF we can get things to come together here in a little bit. I will personally make sure it won't fall apart. We might need a little support at some county board mettings. I will post this up as it comes closer. But we are working with powers higher up than you or I could ever be... Big corp. will have a hand in this one.. More details to follow........................................

I do a lot of traffic w/ a few larger local companies and i could see as well if they might be interested in chipping in.

More than likely, the event will be scheduled before we would get approved or denied for an addition on our special event permit. So if "music" can be added it will be a last minute.Like i said get a hold of me if you need held organizing, promoting, or funding. I'll help because i want this to happen. A 2 day event will be announced I would say no later than March 15, April 1 at the very latest. It will be on a 3 Day Holiday weekend in the Fall, so one day can be used as a "Rain Day" and 2 days for the event. I can guarantee if event is scheduled, it will not fall apart, as I won't have to be waiting for the "Mysterious" money to arrive from promoters, as this will be a Track hosted event, and not someone without the resources trying to lease facility for the event.
Works for me. I can help w/ the funding/organizing/promoting if need. IMHO the track should be putting in their fair share as well.
You shouldn't have to worry about that, as like any other track hosted event, the sponsor money covers controllable event day expenses, and if event is a success, the resources that come in over & above will cover the uncontrollable expenses assuring the ability to keep facility solvent and functionable for future events. (The mortgage on the 1.2m renovation can be a bitch)

SLSNow this is nice. Not to kick up some shit, but this is what "we" need. (We as in non shop owner types) The only way we can push shit around here, is to get together and start kicking over the rocks. Sure Tintmasters has been doing it lately, but if "we" always want more, like the ultimate event every weekend, he can't do it by himself. And we all know sls wants to help push it also. Just the fact that 2 of the more vocal shops in the area are agreeing to help each other to throw big events, bringing in sponsers, and just pushing the whole scene is what "we" really need. I'm so proud now i could cry, the wourld is beautifull.....
