This may be rude sounding..

bah. this whole thing is retarded. you dont starve a person like that, no matter what the situation is. if someone did that to an animal, they would get arrested. yeah she has brain damage, but she responds to verbal commands, and like im sure most of you have seen, she responded to the blue balloon.
plus she is catholic. the whole family is catholic. they wanted a priest to be with her during her last few hours alive, as any catholic family would. her husband actually isnt letting the priest be with her, and sent police to her room. basically if the priest goes anywhere near her.. he will be arrested.
honestly i dont see how there is even a debate here. i dont see why the government thinks it can step in and let the husband pull the tube, when the entire family says no. doesnt an entire family overrule a husband?

You asians dont get out much, do you? come on...
Shes wasting her families and husbands money and i say she is no longer kept alive, If it werent for her eating disorder, would any of this have happened? NO. Who cares what her husbands motive is. She did this to herself. If he has a huge insurance policy on her, good for him. If your wife died, money would maybe help a lil bit to. -
I think they have to pull the tube because assisted suicide is illegal everywhere in the U.S. Most of the time people just pull the plug when they are in a vegetative state and it doesn't take long for them to die. In this situation it doesn't work exactly that way.
If I were in that situation I would not want to live on either.

In Florida, this is how the law is. She is brain dead. Yeah, her family found other doctors that said, oh there is activity, I don't buy it. Wow she can follow a balloon with her eyes, good progress for 15 years. I agree that she shouldn't be starved to death, but what do you do? Keep dumping millions of tax money into her? Or move on with things. You can't compare a human to an dog. If you do, I guarantee the dog would have been put to sleep very soon after the incident. Not to say that she should've been put to sleep, but after 15 years, something should be done, I think. She is living in a hospice, which is a government funded place right? (Say something if I am wrong). Now the family got the entire congress and president involved, I am sure that costs ALOT of money just to run for 1 day. Like I said, it is a tough situation. LT turn on the fricken radio or new channel, I bet you could find something talking about it right now.

-
If they gave her a shot then that would be assisted suicide which is a felony I believe. If the courts allowed them to do that then that would open the floodgates for assisted suicides to be legalized.

I can see both sides of it. The thing I think is odd about all of this is that her parents up til 7 years ago considered her in a vegetative state until her husband came into $1million of which he put 700,000 into a trust fund for her. Her parents filed bankruptcy around that same time and once the $700k was used up they changed their minds and stated that she is active and wanted him to use the other $300,000 that he received. Up until that time her parents were all for pulling the plug AND they encouraged him to see other people and move on because there was no chance for Teri...they even met a few of his dates. From the beginning he has said that it was her wish to not be kept on life support and that she had conveyed this to him, there are several witnesses who can attest to this.
I also agree that this is a cruel way to let someone die, but since Dr. Jack Kvorkian is in prison for assisting in a suicide, no medical professional will even consider euthanasia (sp?)

I think LT not knowing what this is about is just as suprising on how long shaivos lasted.
If i was in her situation. I wouldnt wanna live my life doin absolutely nothing but laying in a bed. I would ask to just be given some kind of poison and just end it.

^she cant talk...

thanks, I try to keep up on all things political

Ok it is a cruel way to let someone die. but seriously her brain is so damaged it's basically mush right now. Yeah she can go through thearpy but how much is that gonna do? This has gone on way too long, I agree. It's time that the family needs to let go. I know how hard it is, but its time. The more they keep fighting this the more expensive it gets. Thats just my opinion on the whole situation...

Last Friday when I was out with a couple of the paramedics with FM during my shift we got to talking about it.. Studies showed that after a couple days (roughly 3-4) the individual enters a euphoric state similar to drowning after the panic goes away. -
shes basically dead as it is and her parents kept pleading that she was recovering. her parents tried to say she started trying to talk and said they asked her how she was and she responded. if she did say how she was, im pretty sure she was gellin'.
-
they claimed she "responded" I dont think they meant she could talk. I think it was like a squeeze of the hand or a blink or something

I think the whole thing is very sad. I worked in a nursing home as a cna for 3 years. I ahve worked with many people just like terri. It is a horrible way to live. Most of the cases I worked with the families pulled the tube or plug. Because living in that state is not a quality life. And as for this case and the money issues. Well today they were saying that out of all the money there is only $50,000 after all the court fees and hospital bills. If this was me I wouldnt want to live. I would want my husband to pull the plug and move on. Just my opinon...

This is a tuff situation to debate about i think that the nation should not create so much fuss about it. how many people actually know terri that talk about her all the time. I do understand that the people protesting may have had a personal reason to protest but its not there disicion and they need to let the husband an family deal with this on there own and not make it a nation debate like that of some celebirty that just got cought on tape or something
