Car Audio?

Any opinion on Polk audio? I thought they sounded real crisp maybe it was just me

yeah the polk momo speakers arent bad....I have Inifinty Kappa's in my Eclipse and Boston in my monte carlo...and i'd say my eclipse sounds better but that may be because of the setup..

M Class Memphis speakers sound awesome too.
Their components are also amazing if that is also what you are looking for.

Yes, Site On Sound sells Boston speakers. If you're going to go with Boston, spend the extra $ and go with the Pro series rather than the RX. I have had both in custom kick panels and I replaced my Boston RX series with Boston Pro Series and it made a huge difference. It also depends on if you are going to be running your front speakers off of an amp or if you are going to use deck power.

Diamond audio, I haven't heard them in probably 4-5 years, but back then they were great, but now team sells them so I don't know.

Crystal Audio is very nice sounding as well. Memphis is good, Polk is good, MB Quart is good, USD is good, Image Dynamics is good, Boston is good...really, I could go on forever...dynaudio, morel, etc....

Yeah there are Tons of good brands...it all depends on what kind of sound your looking for and everytihng....your amp and cd player can make a huge difference too.

no offense, but when Autosound 2000/Car Sound magazine had a challenge to the worlds top competitors to tell the difference between 3 different amplifiers none could do it...they had a $5000 offer to anyone that could pick their amp out of a lineup of similar powered amplifiers set to the same overall gain/balance.

speakers are the fourth most import thing in sound quality, btw. The first 3 are:

1. Speaker Location.
2. Speaker Location.
3. Speaker Location.

Other than location, just find one that is best suited to your tastes. There is no "best" sounding speaker, we all have different ears and different cars..speakers will sound different in, say a Civic compared to a Hummer. And maybe even from a civic to a maxima you might notice tonal differences. There are so many variables, and not a whole lot of people realize that there are TONS of things you can do to improve imaging, soundstage, rear-ambient fill, etc...

i have an argue for this...but i'll leave it alone......although he is just looking for replacement speakers from what he says....which im sure he will just hook them directly to his cd player.

No sir. I'm goin for components up front, most likely amp powered in the back and then if I ever get a sub power that from the head unit. And what I'm looking for is real crisp all over sound, I listen to mostly heavy metal and rock

Hifonics makes a nice 5 channel amplifier for components and for the subwoofers an all in one amp, and they are not badly priced, if you are interested let me know i can get you a good deal on one. thanks

myself i am going for a SQ Setup with Hifonics ZS 12 subs, a Hifonics ZX7500 amplifier, a Hifonics ZX4400 for my components and i am going with morel components. i am hoping to do semi decent i am not going to travel the world for the comps but just go to a few in the tri-state area

I REALLY like CDT speakers. Very high quality...even their entry level stuff.

I should have been more clear too. I'm talking about amps that are within the same quality level as the amps they are being compared to. Not trying to say a $45 Jensen/Rockwood/Kenford amp from walmart is gonna have the same quality as a $1000 Zapco. You could probably tell them apart fairly easily. Basically what I was trying to get at is that one $200 amp is going to perform nearly identical to another $200 amp of the same power (Phoenix Gold vs. Rockford Fosgate vs. MA Audio vs. Memphis vs. Linear Power vs. Kenwood vs. Alpine vs. JL Audio vs. JBL, etc...) assuming they are both set to play at the same dB, in the same environment, on the same set of speakers.
