in my opinion, the whole allure of cruising broadway was that you weren't supposed to.
i think the whole purpose of this is to drive up business and traffic for all the businesses on broadway... just like the reason that the lights in business districts are timed to SLOW traffic - designed to keep people around longer with the hope that it will increas the amount of money they spend in the areaBingo. How ironic that something we used to get tickets for is now desired. Also, its not so much fun cruising a street in a manual car that makes you stop and start every 10 feet.

dude..its an undercover cop tryin to get us younger guys to go down broadway so they can snag up a few hundred bucks.
Ill stick to the cooler, longer, funner, exciting, sweeter, wider, smoother 13th ave, uni, and whatever else there is.

Good call. Streets that are still legal to drive on.. By the way, "funner" isn't a word Kirk!

No, it isn't an undercover cop. The city is doing the downtown revitalization bullshit, cruising is already legal between 5 and 9, the signs say no cruising between 9 pm and 6 am (i think it's 6). It is just a way to try and get more business downtown.

Well, looks like every single one of us (including me, I admit) read this completely wrong. The city is in no way, shape, or form trying to fuck us. I just drove downtown and was embarrassed at our scene. Muscle cars galore and not a single sport compact (that I saw). I say we get a huge group for the next one so we can actually represent the current local car scene among the "younger" generations.

6 vette's were part of the vette club I believe, it was a great turnout, lotsa people were cruising, they tried to stop non-cruise people from parking in spots so that cruise drivers could to make it more car show like with a cruise attached, they had door prizes, I'll go again the first thursday of august. Suedes was also there, a small portion of Northstar mustangs was there, There were "at least" 100 participants that were stopped at one point, and several more that came, left and were cruising. I don't think there was a single import parked, but there were cruising

Now if only they allowed the car crowd down there more often...
I'll be there for the next one as well. -

Remember the good old days when cruisin' Broadway was a way of life? Well, Cruisin's back this summer with three special nights - the first Thursday of July August and September will be this summer's three cruising nights, beginning at five and ending around nine o'clock. For details , send an e-mail to [email protected]Just thought I would remind everyone that this Thursday night is another official "Cruise Night on Broadway". The weather outlook is good for Thursday... I'll be there. I just gotta get the car cleaned up after the 7 hour trip I took with it over the weekend...
hrmm... let me try and save this again... it keeps telling me there is a problem with the database when I hit save changes.
