2007 Infiniti G
-

What you see here is a completely redesigned Nissan Skyline GT Sedan aka Infiniti G35 in the United States. The Japanese version debuts as a 2006 model, meaning we American folks get ours for 2007 theoretically, possibly even earlier. Longer, wider, lower, and meaner is the key ingredients to this spankin' sports sedan. A coupe version will come along for sure, and expect the GTR 4WD supercar to be badge as an Infiniti when it does arrive stateside. The G35 name however may give way to a different designation, likely "G40" as the vaunted VQ powerplant has been punched out to 4.1 liters and no longer a 3500 edition. Essentially, it is the same "truck unit" powering the 2005 Xterra, Pathfinder, and Frontier, but with a slight bore advantage, and of course with the mandatory horsepower "passenger car" computer tuning. And yes horsepower it is, as 315 initial ponies will gallop on the non-GTR spec vehicles. Torque is projected to come in at an even 300 ft lbs. Nissan's variable-valve timing along with quad cams driven by chains will return. Take your pick of a 6-spd manual or a 6-spd automatic with manual shift capabilities. The only differences from what you see here and what you'll see in showrooms later is chrome trim around the window frames, chrome door handles, left-hand drive, emissions control, and Infiniti emblems. Acceleration from a standstill to 100 kph (62 mph) is said to be "well below" 5.7 seconds with either gearbox. Instrumented testing will reveal if that's fact or fiction, although most will certainly agree that it's not the latter. No pricing information available.
