I'd hope the stock downpipe is bigger than 1 3/4" on the STi, I believe the stock WRX one is 2"+ (I'd go measure but I'm lazy). What I think they meant was a cat-less downpipe around 3 to 3 1/2". Actually, every turbo car comes w/ a downpipe, otherwise the exhaust would just exit directly from the turbo.....

I have had a boost controller on my STI since I basically got the car and have have absolutely no problems, although you do not want to go over 16 psi otherwise you will just detonate and the ECU will pull timing anyways.

The DP on the STI is the same DP on the WRX. STI does have larger stock exhaust on it and the other major difference in exhaust is the STI uppipe is catless. If you want to do a turboback on the STI you WILL NEED to port the wastegate otherwise you will get boost creep.

Element tuning ECU is a full standalone along with the capability of removing the MAF and going to speed density. SWEET!

Im not saying your going to blow your engine...its just most ppl wanna turn up the boost and they think hey i'll just spend 200bucks on a boost controller to crank up the performance instead of $500-1200 for an ECU program or Piggyback system.
They are safe if you arent an idiot ricer about it but for the most part i'd spend the $ on an ECU program or some engine management that changes all of the perimmiters and not just boost.

Almost everymod will have an effect on what your ECU is doing...most intakes lean out your mixture and most ppl wouldnt do anything about it even if they already have a car that runs lean. I just think cheap mods like boost controllers and Super AFC's are junk and are a cop out to "real tuning" Just my $.02

btw my car came with 2.25 inch piping throughout the exhaust im pretty sure an STi would be 2.5 or 2.75

get engine management not some boost controller...and if you just want some more boost and not alot just get a ECU reflash program

                    Nice STi btw!

I'm confused? First it sounds like the STi will blow up with a boost controller, but next, it wont blow up if you aren't stupid about it. I guess what I mean is, Kirk wouldn't go fiddling around with his boost controller, cranking it up to 30psi... And he has the people to help him not run lean / blow things up. Honestly though, $200 for a boost controller?

Also, I dont really understand why S-AFC's are junk... care to elaborate? I guess all of us with just boost controllers and afc's don't really "tune" our cars? Hmm... I guess we should just ignore Nick's conservative "piggy back" afc tune for 530whp...

as far as the STi blowing up no it will not w/ a conservative amount of boost pressure added...but some people would perhaps go to the track or a street race and want to win really badly so they crank up the boost a few more psi than they probably should.

Also i dont know Kirk well or what his plans and uses for his car are...and thats great that he has the people to help him not run lean or blow things up...but just because i know where i can get my car fixed when it breaks doesnt mean i should be careless! Again i dont know Kirk and im not saying he will...im mainly generalizing the applications and uses in which most boost controllers are used. And $200 was just a shot in the dark i dont know because a) i dont have turbo b) if i did i wouldnt have much desire to buy one which im sure u know what i would buy by now

And my points arent a shot at anyone w/ AFC's or Boost controllers and i wasnt aiming to start a pissing match by saying you all dont know how to "tune" a car...im just saying in a more reliable, more failsafe situation Full Engine management or a Strong Piggyback is better and will be more in check with everything instead of a bunch of parts all trying to make power in different ways and clashing w/ the ECU

sorry if i hit a nerve or whatever but thats just my opinion and i dont mean to offend im just making conversation is all.

                            Good story 👎

That is the absolute best placement for a BOV. All you Honda/DSM guys should take note of that. A lot of the BIG dog Honda guys are literally attaching them RIGHT to the intercooler. Check out www.full-race.com They live by that..

Having it on your charge pipe 8" from the TB is old news..
