At a loss here.

I pulled the timing belt cover off the Talon today and was amazed that it was still on there. I pulled on it a little and it was still on. WTF! I tried starting it up but it seems the starter is engaging but it wont budge at all.
OK so I decided to do a little more investigation and pulled the valve cover off and did not find anything wrong with it. Not in my eyes anyway maybe there is somethhing there that I am just not picking up. Everything looks to be on the up and up as far as the head looks.
I decided to pull the spark plugs out to see maybe if they got fucked up by a piston or whatver could fuck them up. I pulled #1 out and everything was nice with it. Hell it was even a slight golden brown. It was the same thing for each one of the cylinders.
I really didn't want to take it apart any further because I want to get some shut-eye before I head into work tonight but tomorrow I am going to see about pulling that head off from some further investigation.
I am really at a loss here as to what is keeping my car from starting and to what caused it to make the nasty noises before it died. Well either way it is going to be a long winter I can see it already.
Does anyone have any ideas on what caused it to die and what is causing it from turning over. Maybe I haven't dug deep enough?

I live in Wisconsin and it did rain here but I wasn't driving. Plus my intake is way out of the way so the only way it could have sucked in water was if I was in New Orleans.
The thing about it too is that I just got done fixing the oil leaking problem with the head and for the past two weeks with it. It rarely saw boost as I was trying to save on gas.

Before you go any farther taking the engine apart, have you tested the starting system, or are you just pulling shit apart without checking it first? Personally I feel that your car may have problems related to the following.
I'm going to go with it caught DSMosis (pronounced D-S-M-o-sis). Literally "an abnormal condition of the DSM."
DSMosis is commonly found in cars produced by Diamond Star Motors.
Symptoms include but are not limited to:
Random oil burning, funny noises, running like a champ right before breaking down, breaking down at the worst times, having your check engine light turn on then off randomly when nothing is wrong.
Common cures for DSMitis include but are not limited to:
Baseball bat, junkyard, selling it to a 15 year old ricer, can of gas and a match, hitting a tree at 65 m.p.h., driving into a large body of water.
oh well, free bump to get this guy some help. -
does it even turn over? does the starter engage? is the solenoid even working? Do you have spark at the plug? Fuel at the rail?
-
I just dont see how it would be possible for the starter to cause it to die like that all of a sudden though.
See the thing is that I was driving along listening to some Mariah Carey when I started noticing that I had to press the gas further and further to keep it at 60. I turned the music off and heard something like a slapping noise. Luckily there was a wayside right there and I pulled in and the car shut off. Oh well that was getting to be the norm.
I start the car up again and it is happening again (the noise). I revved it and there was a loud "choonk" sound then it died. I tried starting it but it just wouldn't budge.
Car does not turn over at all.

if you cant turn the crank pully, drop the oil pan and let all the pieces fall into a nice garbage can. then proceed with the following:

Drain the oil and see if chunks of metal come out.
Nothing not a single chunk. No glitteriness like my friend's 95 Talon was.

oh well, free bump to get this guy some help.LOL I like that response.
Some to add:
Having the transmission make some horrible clunking noises on launch, only to be written off as "normal"
Having the oil dipstick shoot off during a launch
A perpetual black oily mark on the rear bumper, that will never completely come off
Having the car want to speed up unusually fast in front of a police squad car, yet it will seem to not want to accelerate at all 10 minutes later when it is lined up against something
