So someone decided once again that the best way to get stuff for themselves is to take it from other people who actually worked for it. Over my vacation my mom called to let me know that my eclipse was broken into and the pricks stole my cd player and door speakers. Well, I don't feel too bad about it because the CD player was $80 and the speakers were in the car when I bought it (some crappy pioneers or something), but they did fuck up my window in some wierd way that I can't get it to go in right again, they didn't break it, they pulled it out some way. So the cops were over and printed everything and got all the serial numbers that i had for the equipment, maybe i'll get it back. It just irks me that fuckers like that run around jacking ppls shit like little weasels.

Next time, get an alarm, granted it is only a deterrant, but the less appealing you make the car, the better. Also, make sure to hide anything that looks like it could be valuable, even if it is sunglasses, change in the ashtray, anything like that. I have never had a problem with thieves with my vehicles, the Mustang, or an Escort, because I made the car look unappealing to thieves. They are looking for the quick steal, and if they have to deal with an alarm, or don't see anything of interest, they will move on to the next car.

The next thing to do is take the alarm to someone extremely competent to install it. I'd be willing to bet that I could break into 95% of the cars in this town that have alarms and not set them off....most people don't do enough to protect the alarm from being damaged. I won't go into more detail here as I don't want this to be a "how to break into a car undetected" thread.

Exactly. I have seen some pretty half-assed alarm installs on cars I've worked on, and I just have to laugh, things like the brain being right under the dash, or things like that. Whenever I install them, I make sure to hide the brain, add shock sensors, and make sure to clean up all the wiring so its not obvious. I never put in motion sensors, since they seem to false alarm more than they're worth.
