is it legal to ask who the complaintee(word?) is to see where we were, what time it happened etc? cause if so, who knows if the cops are just pullin us over saying " we got a complaint" figuring that we'll just pay the ticket and they be making the whole complaint part up just for the $.

I'm pretty sure that you can call things in anonymously and that they can then later assess if its necessary to give a ticket.

THE loudest things on the roads are those monster truck type things...
ALSO
Harley's and other bikes...
Even with no exhaust our cars aren't that loud...
So are they going to be pulling over ever car w/ a fart can now?
Nick's right though, they need to have some sort of system which will provide an actual dB number, like in other states, or else officers (who we all know already hate us), are going to be them dick selves and just do whatever the hell they want.

I had a set of Supertraps on my other truck with a 429 under the hood and I got pulled over for load pipes...this was in the cities and the cop said I had to go to the cop shop..so I drove over there and they had me rev the motor( pipes loud as hell) and he said that he had to ticket me...then I pulled out the sticker that came with the supertraps that said legal in all 50 states and he let me go

Yeah you guys are screwed.
The number of loud exhausts that I saw in the F-M area was mostly pick-ups. The ratio of loud trucks to loud imports was around 5 to 1 but I saw no mention of loud pick-ups in the article.
"Enforcement will focus on what Mitchell calls “speed racer” cars, or small customized imports, and motorcycles in which owners have modified muffler pipes for a louder exhaust." You know because my Talon is so damn loud compared to a pick-up truck. This is indeed a bunch of bullshit. It is an excuse now for them to harass the import crowd.

I think a bigger problem than loud exhaust is the problem of people blowing through red lights and red arrows. Man...on 13th it is horrible. Two lights in a row I had a green light for 3 to 5 secs and people were still trying to get through even though their light was red. THAT is a major problem I think.

its ok jim your not alone...my exhaust isnt high and screechy or V8 with glasspack obnoxious...my exhaust is very very deep and so are most turbo DSMs....

I agree with fallguy! Anyway ya we have been targeted. That means everyone with a F150 with loud pipes and the stereo crowd will be next. Oh well I have the Racing Beat exhaust so its pretty decent as far as noise. Its not obnoxious it just has a nice sound to it under WOT. Then again that damn exhaust costed $850 it better be good LOL! For the fart canners your days are numbered. I agree its just a ploy to target the import/tuner crowd though. The govt does not like people standing out of a crowd. They want everyone to blend in with each other. 4 years as a Jarhead taught me that LOL! Well tread lightly guys as SGT Studynko is around the corner waiting. (Cheech & Chongs up in smoke)

99% of N/A 4-cylinder cars with exhaust work are just as loud as trucks with exhaust work, it's just loud at different frequencies. I hear both kinds of vehicles just by sitting at home with my window open. The difference, if I may continue to make generalizations, is I rarely if ever see pickup truck drivers weaving between cars in busy traffic or cutting across two lanes with no turn signal.
