i got an ideahook up an electric fencing system...so whenever someone touches your car ..they get shocked....works great..
had to do it once because my dogs kept jumping on my moms car...it kept them off thats for sure and never fried any of the electrical shit in her car or anything...should try that.
Also, highly illegal. It is unlawful to do anything that will cause someone bodily harm. For example, it is illegal to rap your radio wiring in barbed wire, it is illegal to glue razorblades to the back of the radio, it is illegal to sharpen the bottom of the Mercedes hood ornament, it is illegal to use the ignition coil to zap someone who is vandalizing your vehicle, etc.....
There have been many people that have been sued and lost HUGE amounts of money because of the above antics.

yeah your right...
the laws only protect the criminals nowadays....its bullshit.

The point is to stop vigilante justice, which is what you kids are trying to plan. This likely isn't going to stop until one of YOU angry individuals gets someone killed or hurt and ends up in jail for a long time.simmerdowna......if the cops dont do anything, why cant we do the detective work?

nicks, barry, and cmk are right guys. your best bet is to bring everything you guys have down to the police station PERSONALLY and preferrably in as big of a group as you can, and talk to them IN PERSON. if youre really concerned about it, talk to the detectives and keep checking back to make sure that things are getting done. hell, talk to the newspapers and see if theyll interview you guys about it to make the breakins more known to the public. right now, its basically just a small group of people that knows about all this. i guarantee if you made it known to everyone else, the police would almost have to do something about it. actually.. have you thought about attending or actually attended any city meetings? either way, just making a couple phone calls isnt going to do anything.
if you choose to take care of the situation yourselves, youll most likely end up in more trouble than the thieves would have if youd taken care of it the right way. vigilante justice just sounds childish.

What were we going to go shoot them? What is wrong with doing the leg work for the detectives?

Talk to the FPD, and see if you can get their help. I know how much you guys complain about them, but if they see that the citizens are willing to get involved, I would think they would be willing to help.\They are supposed to be willing to help its the F'n job.. SERVE AND PROTECT! not call us, leave us a message... wait until there are 200 instances then form a posse and come to our door demanding justice. If we are out to lunch do not black the fire lane, we will be back shortly. wtf kind of argument is that??
then joel attempts to organize something to compile info and gets his ear chewed off for being a childish homicidal maniac?

We(the people commenting on this who have not been victims) provide a valuable insight: calm perspective. What do you think is likely to happen? You'll all sit down and have a good productive meeting, and prepare a detailed portfolio of evidence for the police? Or how about this: one person will start ranting about how pissed off he his and wants to beat some asses, and it snowballs until some serious shit gets planned that sidesteps the law. The last thing I want is for these break-ins and thefts to continue, because that shouldn't be happening to anyone. I doubt this is going to make a dent in your resolve, but I am trying to help.
edit: I didn't proofread this adequately, so I'm adding this. I respect your drive to get something done. A lot of young people just don't give a shit. I hope you will get something good accomplished, as in getting the thieves brought to justice.

honestly, in however long (years) I've been here and observing, I'd find it really hard to believe that the majority talking about this (for it) could actually sit down and have conversation and produce a rational plan of attack....

I, for one, am happy to see you guys at least getting together and talking about this. Just reading the boards, I can conclude a couple of things:
-
There is a major problem with theft (I see more complaints here than on mnsc, and the population in Fargo is most likely a fraction of that of the cities).
-
It keeps on happening, which therefore means, nothing is being done about it
The police are not bad guys, and are very dependable when it comes to life and limb. But let's face it, their hands are tied because they too are regulated by Big Government, which trickles down to the local level, and makes things inefficient. It's too bad you have to take matters into your own hands, even though you pay taxes for basic government services like property protection, but it surely is better than sitting there being a victim.
