Exhaust Ticket Response from Fargo PD

u want to talk about how only one has gotten a ticket. how can he say he needs to start enforcing the law and yet no one else has been givin a ticket. there is no way he hasnt seen anyone with illegal exhaust since then. how come he hasnt pulled anyone else over, why did he choose him, and not say a truck or a motorcycle?what is your argument? The majority of the people are bitching about profiling of certain cars. Until you have the stats of who has been pulled over (eg. motorcycles, trucks, domestics, imports) we have no argument.......... Also we want to know is what constitutes a ticket..........do some research before you argue an old topic. that is what the search button is for.

it's a very interesting link to have, lotsa good questions and a few dumb ones.

Heres the deal, if a car is loud it SHOULD get pulled over, regardless of country of origin/age/style of vehicle. We've beaten this to death on here already. The ONLY thing I want in writing from the cop is what makes an exhaust illegal. Is any aftermarket exhaust illegal? My interpretation of his email to me is that yes it is by his standards. Which is total BS. I want clarity, so far all I've gotten is more confusion.
Again, IF A CAR IS LOUD IT SHOULD GET TICKETED. BUT if we have a buffer for alcohol consumption and driving (for example, most people can pass a sobriety test after having 1 or 2 beers) there must be some sort of leniency for exhaust upgrades, because last I checked a loud exhaust never killed anyone, but consuming one drink can and does slow your reflexes a bit.

I am sure its not that big of a priority, it is just another excuse to pull you over/make quota

thatb is a good point

fortunately they probably won't have to deal with us speed racers for about 4-5 months as its getting colder out now and a lot of us are putting them in storage.

Another thought....just a thought.....when a saleen mustang is built that exhaust is then factory from saleen. Chuck, you have a business, you can say that your car is the first TJamz subaru and therefore the exhaust is stock to that vehicle.
As long as the "TJamz" subaru is DOT approved, just like every "Saleen" vehicle is. -

what is a good exhaust that will sound good and be farely quiet, for my 240, but not be a total $$$ killer

No, I deserve a ticket for my exhaust. It's loud. I just don't want people to get tickets just because they have an exhaust and isn't loud.

When the cops have all the serious crimes under control and have nothing better to do that pull someone over for a exhaust then I'd agree. But when there are meth labs to bust, child sex offenders running around, etc etc then they better get after that stuff rather than a silly exhaust ticket that just wastes their time and ours. Their job is to "protect and serve" not "fart around and waste time".

wow i have really checked up on fargostreet in a while but i thought of something...you can go buy a Lambo or something exotic like that, or evern an srt-4 they all come stock with a loud exhaust...now are they going to start pulling over compleatly stock cars, right out of the dealers lot?

What you described is more in lines with Detectives and DEA agents. The officers that we have patrolling fargo are probably not likely to be involved with a whole lot of drug busts unless it is in a moving vehicle. Yes, they may follow up on leads from the public, but in reality they don't have a clue what is really going on w/ drugs or whatever. Yeah, they know meth is bad. They might even know of a few users. However I doubt they know the bigger dealers/suppliers for the area.
The unfortunate part of policing the drug scene is that a lot of times the small time dealers are not arrested immediately when there is proof, they always want to wait for the major supplier...in the mean time there are more and more people getting hooked on this stuff because the known dealer isn't being stopped.

Aid to Africa... LOL

Well, for the most part that is what most cops are paid to do is police/control traffic and provide assistance/manpower on raids/busts. I agree, there are more productive things they could do, BUT most are not trained to be full detectives. I personally think that Fargo has about 5 too many cops patrolling at any one given time, but being the conservative state that ND is, we like to give the appearance of safety and protection and therefore we pay our cops to issue traffic tickets.
