So, about 2 months ago I made a post about my engine bogging and hesitating, but only under serious load at low rpm's (i.e. 3rd gear, sub 2k, WOT). Well, come to realize my dizzy is SHOT and cam timing is off 2 degrees. Got that fixed (whew). Well, today I make a hard 3rd gear pull from way down low, and what happens, the motor pulls like a pedal bike up to about 3k, but then runs all the way to redline without a hickup spinning the tires as soon as vtec x-over.

Anyone have any clue? Could my cam timing have gotten off again? I have replaced the whole dizzy, timed the ignition (+1), and installed new plugs. The ONLY other thing it really could be (i feel like) is plug wires. HELP!

      That's called VTEC Sean. 🙂

Hahah. In all seriousness, check your plugs, plugwires, check the dist -AGAIN-, and verify that the timing belt is OK. Other than that, that should be about it.

Alright, I'll run through the checklist for like, the thousandth time. When you say to check the dizzy again, should I look at the caps contact points etc.? I mean, its a BRAND NEW dizzy, so I would hope nothing would be hailed out yet. If everything looks good I'm going to spring for a new set of plug wires, any suggestions on those nick? I'm running some 3+year old magnecores right now.

MSD Wires have worked very well in the past. I had magnecors shit out on me and I just went back to a new set of OEM wires.

Awesome, thanks Nick. Also, this might be a little off topic here, but check out this post I made on H-T, maybe you could shine some light on it.

So when I originally rebuilt my motor, the crank pulley was pretty hailed. I contacted someone here on H-T and got a used b-series (of some sort) crank pulley and purchased a new timing belt from honda. When I recieved the pulley, it was larger in diameter than my stock one....no big deal, right? However, lately I seem to be having some trouble with my timing belt jumping a tooth or two after it's been driven for a couple days. Now the pulley wasn't THAT much larger in diameter, was I supposed to have purchased a specific size belt? Is it possible my tensioner is bad?
