thunderbirds

hey guys, I am looking for kinda a heads up on thunderbirds. I'm buying aq 90 t-bird with a 3.8 in it as a runner car, just curious to know what to look out for on them.. also I believe it needs a new half shaft or CV joint in back, anyone know how hard those are to replace.... kinda aiming at dubbsy here, I think he has had acouple cars like this.

hmmmm that doesn't sound like a very happy thing to run into... hopefully I can get by without it... any other things I should look out for?

but yeah, that's the #1 downfall to the car. The 3.8L motor is notorious for blowing out head gaskets (more-so with the SC version, but the N/A cars still fall victim occasionally). They're good cars outside of that (assuming it's been maintained), but you'd just have to keep from driving it hard to ensure the life of the head gaskets.
As for replacing anything in the half shaft... not sure. Unbolt the upper arm and you may be able to get things pivoted down to get it out of there. (assuming you can get the hardware apart)
