Tires

Oh, and I could give 2 shits about "great looks" or the ultimate "off the line traction". I want a true handling tire. As a rule of thumb.... if it grips in the corners good, then it USUALLY grips good off the line. Besides, my car isnt the ultimate hp monger anyway.

isn't there a jelly bean forum that you can ask these kind of questions on. not many people on here with experience running different brands on the same car. you know like a comparison. i have had the ao32r and avs sport. both are good tires, but serve different purposes.

There is other Miata-based forums out there but I don't know the people I am getting responses from so I don't know how much faith to instil in what they are telling me. On here however, I do know most of the people that respond and know whether or not to take there reply seriously.

Falken Azeni might be a good choice for you as well Wes...

falken azenis, toyo t1r, yokohama avs sport or avs es100, or bfg kdw are all excellent tires. just depends on what you want to spend. if you are going to use them for autocross, you may want to look at the weight of the tires. there can be alot of difference in weight which would add more rotating mass. i know that the toyos are one of the lighter ones and have great traction.

If it gives me what I want then I'll spend a little extra. Hell, I may just buy a set of 15's and some super stickys to run track days with and keep a useable tuner tire on there for normal driving. The only thing stopping me is trying to haul the crap around to and from these events with the limited trunk space that the good ol jellybean has to offer. I guess if I could get some real grip out of them and get a summer worth of use out of a set, I'd be happy. That really limits the playing field though.

ive had experience w/ the toyo t1s and they are rediculousy sticky in the corners but get eaten rather quickly when driven hard ive also had toyo fz4's which are more of a all season preformance tire and do well cornering but get rather greasy when heated and have basically no straight line traction
