you will still need collateral, chances are he would have to use his car as collateral and if so then he would still need to have insurance on it.

I have Country through Brad Fleming also and they were the lowest rates out of the 20 quotes that i got. Ever since ive been working at a body shop i now realize how screwed some insurance companies are. Some companies dont blend panels, some companies use A/M parts and recycled parts only (unless there forced to use OEM). Just a few suggestions to ask your agent. I know that progressive does not blend panels in certain situations. Ive seen some progressive cars leave here looking like shit because they wouldnt allow us to blend the panels. In my oppinion i would check out country, and deffinetely stay far away from American Family. Good luck...

I've ran state farm for 17 years now they have been GREAT to me even with almost running out of points in high school... the kicker DIDN'T HAVE ACCIDENTS even if it's not your fault 3 in 2 years says to them your not a good defensive driver....

progressive and other insurance company's without an agent to talk to locally are for those at high risk cheaper but have fun trying to make a clam... the body shop at the chrysler dealer i used to work for hatted that company and made the customer get the check before they'd start for the simple fact it was hard to get them to pay for repairs much less they had to prove that their aren't any junk yard parts that are available instead of new....

In fact I have a clam that just got oked but i'm not loosing my accident free discount being i've had it for over 10years so they are forgiving this one (plus how many clams were made cause of ice yesterday) in fact it's getting increased from 20% off to 25% discount

that should take me down into the mid $60/per month for full coverage instead of 70
but like chuck i'm getting 2 age discounts on that rate also

Sorry about your experience there joel. I really think the kicker is accidents. I have state farm and my ins. is only $57/month/car. That's including 4 speeding tix in 3 years (2 of them were bullshit, but i got em non the less...they were "speed care required"...prolly gave it to me cause I have a fartcan...w/e) and losing my licience for 3 months (prior to being 18 = only have 6 pts.)...I only have 1 pt. now. By saying that, i'm thinking that you got kicked bc of the accidents, nothing else. just my opinion though.

With my driving record progressive is the only insurance company that will insure me. My dad actually couldn't get insurance for awhile until I moved out of his house. Progressive did an awesome job with my WRX seriously can't tell it was wrecked as bad as it was and the only aftermarket part they were gonna buy was a radiator and i offered to pay the difference of 27$ and i got an oem.

Ahh, but the quote is done by the shop. If the shop specifies OEM in its quote and you have the same shop do the work that did the quote, the shop will get the amount specified in the quote, if the shop fails to utilize the parts listed in the original quote they need to get permission by means of a change-order from the insured otherwise they are in breach of their contractual obligations.

95% of parts used to fix vehicles are aftermarket. What exactly is wrong with using a fender off of a car that happens to be in a junkyard? its all sheet metal, hell sometimes its not even metal. whats the difference where the hunk of metal came from? Any other business would source out the cheaper product and in this case quality is not even a factor.

Getcher green hat, we are goin fishin.

IMO, Progressive insurance company is a rip off in the end. I'm dealing with their bullshit right now. Only go through Progressive if you ABSOLUTELY have to. It's worth it in the long run to pay a little higher premium, so that you don't have to deal with Progressive's bullshit when it comes to them paying to fix your vehicle. Progressive WILL NOT pay for OEM body parts if they can save by paying for aftermarket parts. I even called up the state insurance commissioner and she said there's no law or anything she can do to get me OEM parts. So keep this in mind when choosing new insurance. If you ever do end up getting your car wrecked, it wont ever be the same unless you fork out the extra money to get the PROPER parts and have your car fixed the right way.

edit Progressive is good for people that are in a pinch like yourself though. They will probably be cheaper than most places, but it's up to you if it's worth it in the end.

They will probably be cheaper than most places, but it's up to you if it's worth it in the end.

i had that problem when I had american family insurance........they wanted to use used parts. Most insurance companies try to get buy as cheap as possible.
