Well I just picked up a 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol today at a auction. Not sure what to do with it yet, but figured it might be worth something. Either I got it or it would go to Hazers and get wrecked and they'd ask a arm and a leg for the parts. From what I can tell its not the fancy one but its still pretty nice. Had Power windows and locks, AC, tilt, cruise and all the good stuff. From the doors back the car is perfect and the interior is perfect. Engine runs and has only 102K

Now the bad part, it is wrecked in the front end and would need a new clip fron the strut towers forward. ANd the real bad part is its a no title car that the state does will not let be registered again, for some stupid reason.

    So.... Here are my options:

    A) find a civic with a good front clip and a title and fix the car and use the civic Vin.

    or

    B) part is out and see if I can make some money.

What do you think, and if I was to fix it, andone got a good front clip?

By the way, swapping vins is highly illegal and they punish hard for it. I would try applying for a lost title or get a bonded title for it.

Also, vins on most Japanese cars are not only on a tag at the lower windshield, but they stamp it all big like on the firewall which makes it that much more difficult to swap them. Better be onehelluva bodyman to do that. Along with the other places on the body where they place the vin on the car that you wouldn't expect them. Look around on certain body parts, you'll see them.

places i've seen VIN numbers on cars...
                  inside gas door
                  trunk lid
                  any of the door jams
                  underside of hood
                  radiator support
                  firewall

just to name a few. Probably not the best Idea w/ the VIN swap.
Find a JDM front clip, and register it as the japanese car. I don't think that it would require crash testing... but i wouldnt know. just an educated guess.

Wrong. You cant get a JDM clip and expect to register that. Try also looking along the channel on the hatch as well for a vin #.

And never be able to sell it as a legitimate legal to register car. It doesn't matter who ends up with the car down the road. If it ends up in an accident or someone else ends up with it down the road, the car can and will be traced back to who did the work and prosecute them. I have 3 friends that have all been busted for this VERY thing and there is a mandatory jail sentence involved for it. There is legal ways to make it a registerable and titleable car. It is a pretty serious felony.

you'd have a better chance importing the clip and registering it as a kit car. Still kinda shady, but more likely to not get sued for it.

Geez... I asked for some options and I get a bunch of bullshit. I think I am going to part it out anyways, I am not much of a import person, so I cannot see taking the time to fix it. I can use another cars vin too, just when its registered the DMV put both vins on the title, 1 is what your registering it as and the other is the car you used as parts. You have to do that when you clip a car or replace the body. As I see it my only chance to fix it is find a del sol that was hit in the ass and make a good car out of both, but as hard as it is to find one of these, I think hell will freeze over first.

So if you need parts or something, just give me a holla, I know it runs and its a damn nice car, shit it has some of the nicest seats I have ever seen.

First off, I wasn't aware that trying to give some sound advice was considered bullshit. Reguardless of how you took it, that's how I meant it to come across. You asked what what everyone and anyone thought you should do with the car and some people chimed in to give you their opinions and maybe some ideas on how to do it properly. Then you flame on the responses you got. It's not like it went off topic either. for once it stayed on. If you don't want the advice or don't want to hear it then don't ask. So if you decided to part it out, then that's cool. But don't flame people for giving their ides on what to do especially if you asked for it. Just in case you may have forgot, here's part of your first post.

                                So.... Here are my options:

                                A) find a civic with a good front clip and a title and fix the car and use the civic Vin.

                                or

                                B) part is out and see if I can make some money.

What do you think, and if I was to fix it, andone got a good front clip?

Ever auction there are a few cars that are parts only, you don't even get a bill of sale. I am not sure why they do that, but the city does not want the car to be titled again. I would not try to mess with it unless I for everyhting to fix it, and the way it looks, the car will be parted out and then junked.
