Wanna post some proof on that? If it is based on personal experience then I should REALLY bash Alpine (3 dead cd players that I've owned...all just after warranty expired, the only CD player that has worked good for me from them is a 7909 from like 89 or 90...that thing kicks ass), and Pioneer (3 dead CD, 1 dead Tape player after warranty was gone). However I know that these are good companies overall, I just wouldn't put one back in my vehicle.

How old is the Clarion? Is there still warranty left on it? If there is, I think Site on Sound is the authorized dealer in town, they should be able to send it in for you.

the warranty expired a long tim ago. i made the mistake of buying it online hence the warranty expired after 3 months. bummer huh. yeah well i got it for 250 rather than 500 . i wonder if it really was a good deal or not. the problem with it is keeps cutting out. like ive checked all the connections in my car and the wires are all completely saudered together. could it be possible that the wires coming from the car are going bad?

              RSX TYPE S...HAS FINALLY COME.

              BOOST....to be continued

doesn't sound that likely. Usually OEM wiring is pretty fricken good. I'd try Julies Radio Ranch or call clarion and see how much they'd charge to have it gone through. If all else fails, let me know and I'll sell you a new one for about the same as you payed for your used one, just cuz I know what it's like to have problems w/ a deck (in other words, I'll sell you one for cost +shipping...around $250). If you decide you want another brand or model, I will cut you a good deal on them too.

well IMO ..i dont really thinkk sony/clarion is good..from my experience they arent good with systems, they always seem to have somekind of problems not playing cd's and other things......and kenwood's have problems ejecting cd's along with alpines...

thats cool, I'm not trying to say they haven't had problems, hell they all have. I'm speaking from a position of having sold and installed all of them at some point in time, I'd put Clarion against any other manufacturer (over a span of time especially...to weed out bad production runs from all manufacturers) in terms of reliability.

from what i've heard/read, panasonic has the best no-return rate of any cd player manufacturer. i've had an alpine, an eclipse and a jvc, all of which have worked quite well for me

Eclipse used to have skipping problems a couple years ago, don't know if they have that straightened out yet or not. Haven't touched anything JVC in a couple of years so can't say anything about their quality as of late....though I used to say that JVC was an abbreviation for "Japanese, Very Cheap" back in 94-95 when I used to install them. I'd imagine they have gotten better over the years just like the rest. Panasonic rates really high for a couple of reasons, one of which is the fact that they supply a lot of OEM stuff for car manufacturers. I have had one Panasonic deck that unfortunately I went w/ my prelude when I traded it on the WRX.

Like I said before, none of these companies would still be in business if they produced absolute crap. IMHO, right now, the only differences between CD players of a given price range is the features that you choose to be included. What one has the other doesn't and vice-versa.
