didn't watch the vid, but I'm pretty sure that it isn't even sitting on the track at that speed, but is rather elevated via magnetism.

I didn't get a chance to ride a TGV train, but I've ridden the ICE trains in Germany and it's pretty impressive. We were on the route from Stuttgart to Munich on a more modern train car where at the end of each cabin in the standing area there was a little video monitor showing the current position, speed, etc. We were going ~155 mph. The ride was very smooth and very quiet.
One strange thing i noticed... in Copenhagn (denmark) the rail sections don't appear to have seams between them... the rails appear to be welded together and smoothed at the junctions. This prevents those cars from having the "clunk-clunk" as the wheels move from one rail to the next. But i figured the gaps between rails were necessary for expansion or something, so i was surprised to not see them on the copenhagn-vaedbek rail line.
Modern passenger trains are cool.

pretty much all the rails are welded together now...its called ribbon rail...atleast for long hauls it is...until you get to a town and theres a elevator or some sort of place that you have to service then the rail is not welded.
and most of the time the "clunk-clunk" sound isnt from the rail...its from flat spots on the wheels from dragging the car with the brakes on...:)

Yuppp got any other railroad questions? lol

I want to make sweet love to that train. Then I want to take it out to dinner and make sweet love to it again.
