If GT is so "un-realistic" why do REAL car makers use it's engine to test their concept cars?

la la, the things that Polyphony digital are doing to make the game realistic? i cant even believe that you said that. exerpt from "Driving the game: The GT Expirence" by Leo Hartas---

"We conduct photo shooting session for the car by taking lot of shots. Roughly 500 photos are taken per car.... The basis of the track research starts with photographs, 20-30,000 of them for each individual circut... Every square meter of the track is photographed and the image logged and linked to its exact position on the track...The team also makes use of satellite photographs combined with GPS and existing topographical maps...Team members attend race events at the circuits to take photographs of the location when it is being used for race days..A test driver with 15 years expirence of Nurburgring drove a Nissan Skyline on both the real tarmac and in the virtual world of GT. The results were the lame time in the real car was 8 minutes 15 seconds, in GT the time was 8 minutes 20 seconds, a difference of only 1 percent between the two"

So yea, they aren't doing anything to make it realistic.

Forza does things very simlar to that...but they take it a step further with all of the dyno's, crashing cars, grinding gears, putting lone s/c's in a room w/o a motor to get their true sound, etc. etc...We all know that all racing games that use real tracks do extensive research...Forza 2 just takes it all a step further, thats all i'm sayin

forza isn't as realistic as your trying to show ppl. Like why does the motor get hurt when you rev limit? if you do it for like say 20 sec your motor is toast...WTF that doesn't happen in RL!!!!!

Also you can't use load to build full boost.... why can't you put a car in 5th at say 3grand and see full boost on a turbo civic when you hit the brakes to "brake boost".....

rev limit thing...i dont know...all i can think of is that you arent's supposed to bounce rev limiter in real life...also, if you just bounce off of it a couple times during a race then you are ok...i do agree though that it kinda sux, however, i'd rather have it that way then nothing.

i havnt played for awhile, but i think you can "brake boost"...and if you can't in forza 1, I'm sure in Forza 2 you will be able too.

Bottom line, I'd rather have damage the way it is rather than nothing at all...but thats me. If you dont want damage on, you can turn that off in Forza too, however, it's not something I like doing.

This is a decent vid explaining some of the things going on in forza 2. http://youtube.com/watch?v=AKSU9Hdv-ro

That's from the replay engine. It's rendered in game, and if you had a 720p capture board, and ran this particular replay, that's what you'd see.

GT4 > Forza. I own both, I'm a fan of both, and I've got one hell of an arsenal for both.

            IMO, GT4 is more realistic.

What happens when you break traction during Forza and start powersliding, and then you regain traction? It doesn't snap back into the direction like it does in real life. Does GT4 have this effect? Yes.

Also, the car setup screens are superior in GT4, even though you can adjust tire pressure in Forza.

I dunno, you could go on and on about which is better. If anyone wants to compete in a 'Fargostreet GT4 Time Trial' then I'm willing to organize it. Supraforums just started one, and I wasn't even in the Top 20, hahaha. We'll choose 6 courses, and I'll set the ground rules. 🙂
