Ultimate Fargostreet Car Challenge??? Throwing out an Idea

So i was laying around today, and thought of an idea that i think would be kind of cool to do for members of FS. Having and Ultimate Street Car Challenge. It could be held throughout the summer with different events and categories to see who has the best street car. I wouldn't be the one running it probably since i don't know that many of you and i don't live in Fargo, but i certainly would be willing to help host events, or anything else needed.

I was thinking that events could consist of things like:
1/4 mile time (best run this season at IDR)
Miles put on over the season (to show who drives theirs the most, shows Daily drivability and reliablity)
Gas milage (do a set run to and from a specific place with a judge or something to see milage)
**Auto-x **(best time on a specific auto-x course)
**Road racing **(if we can get people to go out to brainerd, best times on the road course)
**Comfort **(have X number of judges (could be none car ppl too, like parents or GF's) go for a ride around town on a set route to judge the comfort of the car)
**Style **(have x number of judges (car ppl and none) judge which cars based on looks)
Dyno (this is a possibility but probably not since most ppl havent done theres, but any dyno sheets for the car would probly be ok)
Judges choice(the ppl who set up the event would rank the cars based on fit and finish, mod choices, uniqueness, and all other aspects they choose)

We could score it a few different ways, either like SCC does theres with the winner getting 110 and each person going down from there depending on how they stacked up against the winner.

Or what would probly be the easiest but not quite as accurate, would be 10 pts to the winner of each catergory, and then based on the number of cars in the contest, step it down from there evenly from 10 to 0 based on numerical ranking.

We could do any of the events listed above, or add more if people think of other things. I am just throwing it out there, if you don't like it fine, but i thought it might be something fun to do. We could have an entrance fee of like $10 per car (keep it low so more ppl can participate, just for fun) and winner takes all, or split among top 3 cars. Also, we could see if any local buisness's will sponsor it with gift certificates or whatever.

So throw out ideas and if you would be interested in participating....

Sounds like a good idea, but normally things like this get talked about and never actually end up happening.

Yea, i know that these things don't usually happen, but i would really like to see it happen. I will most definately help out if someone else in the fargo area is willing to help me arrange things and put it down.

like the idea....probably won't work as planned though...we'd ALL have to be at the same auto-x event for it to work, same goes for road course and dyno....us AWD guys can't just hop on Andy's dyno....and comparing two different dyno runs on different days on different dynos in different states won't work.

I do agree that the auto-x course could be tough because of different course layouts, but we could see if they will use the same course twice and give ppl the choice of 2 weekends to make it there. And the road course should be the same track(i believe, or are they doing different layouts??) so it would just depend on the weather that day, and that is a bonus to people that go more than once (the more you race, the better your chances). And i agree about the dyno which is why i was just saying it was an option. I don't think this should turn into that serious of a competition that people would complain that they missed 1 pt because they dyno'd on a warmer day and lost 10 hp or whatever. As long as it is the same kind of dyno, i think we should accept whatever you lay down as being close enough. Again, this is an option and we could throw it out all together.

I was thinking to compensate for people not being able to do each and everything, we would take off there worst score (or maybe 2 worst if we have a lot of events) so they could miss one event and still be eligible. But if you missed 2 events, you would have a zero for one.

**So put down if you would participate, and pm me if you would not participate but would like to help set things up and run this. **I know that i won't be participating this year because my car is nowhere near ready but i encrourage people to try and see where theres matches up even if it isn't going to win. My car just looks like shit cuz of some damage and scratches, and my suspension is complete garbage so i would blow in any category to do with that.

Again, throw out any other ideas for events or how we could make the events better, and this isn't going to be an end all to discussions of whose car is best so i don't think it needs to be that serious that everything will be perfect but it should be set up fair.

I like this idea, i'm sure my car wouldn't stand a chance but it'd be fun.
