I have the S3 IS it's, it's a great point and shoot, but can go manual if you want. Takes awesome night pics if you have a tripod.

That cannon S3 IS would be a perfect camera to go with if you wanted to keep just below an SLR. It's got all the same aspects as an SLR but in a smaller package, less MP, and without the ability to change lenses. On the other hand though, 12x optical zoom is a pretty good feature of that camera just like it would be on an SLR. We just got that camera in Officemax a couple of weeks ago, and they have been selling off the shelves like wildfire. The S3 IS IMO, is probably the best point and shoot camera available to the market as it sits now.

sounds like u should be looking at the cannon s3 is or the sony h5 both great cameras, and you can also get a few diff lenses for them i.e. macro filters, wide angle, telephoto

those are pretty much the top 2 non-slr's right now

I could not find a h5, I could find h7 and h9 I would assume they are the newer models.

from what I could tell the h7 and h9 are quite similar but the 9 has a infered night mode, more megapixels, and a 3 inch screen. I will look at this more after I finish up with finals. just looking for some good help for the future so I know what to look for and what not to look for.

Ritzcamera is in the mall and that's more of a place for the serious hardcore camera guys. Yea, they have a few point and shoot camera's but it's more of an SLR place. Officemax has some really good Point and shoots out on display that you can mess around with so you may want to hit that place up. I don't know about Officedepot and supposedly their service sucks so I wouldn't recommend going there.

I am looking for something more then a point and shoot, but not a full SLR, don't have the time to mess with it or the money.

I still think that Cannon would be perfect. Go check it out.
