thats obvious...that car isnt aerodynamic AT ALL...right after it left the ramp it was spinning in the air. there was more surface pushing against the wind (car was at a 90 degree angle to the earth's surface)...if the car would have stayed straight, then he might have had a chance...it's all about aero...another possibility is that he held onto the accelerator after leaving the ramp, causing the jet engine to push the car at a 90 degree angle (to the earth's surface) right away, taking away all of the potential aero.
thats my .02 anyway

Yeah it's all about aerodynamics. Once he took off, the wind resistance forced the car straight up, just like if you take a toy car and launch it off of a tall ramp at a high speed. The only way that could have worked was if he took off completely parallel to the ground with some functional wings to float down.

Basically someone tries to jump a rocket powered lincoln continental (the old boxy boat ones) off a jump, which is basically a quarter pipe and it goes straight up and down. It worth watching to show how dumb people are.
Oh the jump was supposed to be a mile long over a river, off a 8 story ramp...and cost a million dollars to set up.

lol...i love that video
back in the 70s before Aerodynamics existed, this was believed to be possible....not the case
