What would you do??

So im looking for some advice for my mom here, she just bought a "2007" Toyota Corrola and it had a $750 rebate for the car. When she got it home, she found out that the car is a 2008 and all the paperwork is for the 2008. They called her today and want her to switch to a 2007 or pay the $750 for the 2008, which is ok with me since she planned on buying a 2007 but i know that if she returns it, they are just going to sell it as new, which it obviously isn't since she paid for the car, drove it off the lot, and has driven it for a few days now. What do you think?? I don't know if it would be worth $750 now just to have it as a year newer when she goes to sell it, but i don't think it is far for her to return it and let them sell it as new.

That's funny, sell you a car then call back and want more money. They fucked up, they can eat it..Reason #1 my family will not even look at cars at Muscatell anymore. The guy called my dad at work even and was basically harrassing him. Never paid :).

Yea, i that is what im gonna tell her to do. My dad (her ex-husband) is an attorney so she called him and he told her to tell them that if they don't drop it, then they will report it to the state as being sold to her and get it a used title and they will lose much more than $750.

The paper work is a legal binding contract. You signed, they signed, and if the paper works states it is for a 2008 for $XXXXX amount, then it is their loss. Like everyone says, screw them, they messed up, not you guys.

So a little update on this, sorry it is long, but it is pretty funny and very true. Watch out for dealers who try and push people around just because they are ladies and then think they can get money out of them.
She basically ignored there calls for a couple weeks, they kept leaving messages that she had to bring the car back to them (1/2 hr drive away, and they didnt offer to pick it up) and when her 21 day temporary license ran out she called them to see if her plates were in.
She drove 1/2 hr to the dealership and pulled into the drive through service to get the plates put on. The service guys couldn't find the plates and she told them that they had said they were there so they found them, the sales manager had taken them so she couldn't get them.
Sales manager came out and the dialogue went something like this:
SM: We have a problem here.
Mom: no we don't, i just need my license plates.
SM: well you owe us $750, what are you going to do about that?
Mom: nothing, i don't owe you anything, now put on my license plates
(after a little bit of arguing)
SM: While it is people like you who give customers a bad reputation. You think car dealers are just making tons of money (huge glass walled dealership btw) and you bring in junk cars and try to trade them off as good (she didn't even trade in a car, she asked them how much trade in would be on her fully loaded 2002 Jeep grand cherokee limited and they offered her $3500 for it, so she didn't trade it in cuz that is ridiculously low).(after this she just rolled up her window on him although the car was off cuz they were in an enclosed bay so no A/C and it was hot, she rolled down her window after he left and said to her friend):
Mom: That was weird
He comes over and starts yelling at her, "do you think this is funny, are you laughing at me?"
She explains that she wasn't and rolls up the window. The sales person comes over and says:
SP: What can we do to get this taken care of?
Mom: Just give me my license plates, there is nothing else we are going to do.The sales manager comes back over to talk to her and she says:
Mom: listen, either give me my license plates or i am going to call the cops (she was trapped inside a service bay with the doors closed so she couldn't just leave)Finally the service guys just put the plates on, and she leaves. They then sent her a letter that she is now banned from Carlson Toyota. Fortunately she had a friend with her, even though he still said all of that in front of my mom and her friend.

So cliffnotes on it:
She went to get her license plates, the service manager held them hostage so she would pay, she refused, he told her that she gave customers a bad reputation and was trying to screw car dealers with trade-ins (which she didn't do), and then banned her from the dealership.

Sounds like she needs to file harassment charges against the dealership and the asshole that gave her so much shit.

should have went and talked to my dad at corwin he would have helped your mom out with a car and bullshit hastle

yea, but she lives in the cities so she bought from a dealer down there, bad experience this time though.
