thats shitty....or just dont buy cars that are the bottom of the line

listen to consumer reports, German cars are the worst for reliability and are in the shop more than any others. Jims cars are proof of this.

my honda hasn't given me any problems since I've owned it besides autozones fuckup...i heart my hondas heheShit I've had mine for just over a month and had to dump $1400 into it.
The only German cars I'd ever buy are VW and Audi. My uncle in California has owned all kinds of Benz's and BMW's and he's had problems with every one of them, so he bought himself and his wife a couple Porsche's instead.

hahahaGood luck with VW or Audi... they are worse then BMW or Mercedes!
Everyone I've known that's had German cars has been really satisfied with VW and Audi, way more so than BMW or Mercedes. They haven't had any major problems at all. Their reliability isn't ranked very high, but I haven't personally known of anyone with any huge issues unless they beat the piss out of them. Of all the bad things I've heard about German cars, the vast majority of them have been about Mercedes being cheaply made and literally falling apart.

I've got a friend who's 05 Passat turbo is in Valley Imports as we speak to get another engine installed and she babies the car. She's sick to her stomache because VW may not take care of the engine under warranty because she is missing one or two oil change reciepts.

I've owned a few German cars (3 bmws, 2 audis, 1 vw) and will say this:
- they tend to last a long time
- they tend to put up with hard driving really well
- they need a lot of regular maintenance, or else they start feeling like a non-German car (stuff stops working right, etc)
- they develop annoying quirks that slowly drive you mad, because the car is otherwise perfect

- unfortuneately, nothing else drives quite like they do, so you're kind of stuck putting up with it once you decide that's what you like.
Also - never buy a German car with an automatic transmission. Automatics are extremely rare across europe. It's only on the high end models (7 series, A8, etc) that automatics are the only gearbox... everything else defaults to a manual transmission.
At least us german car owners can snicker at Italian car owners - those guys are the real rich idiots who fix more than they drive

EVERYBODY has problems with them.
