Toss me some idea's

I'm looking to buy a new car as gas prices are driving me nuts. My truck is a gas hog and I just can't afford to fill it anymore. 60 bucks each time to fill it.. and I gotta fill it about every week and a half (If I'm lucky).

I'm kind of looking into a Civic but I'm not sure yet.

I need a car that gets 20+ MPG as I have to travel quite a bit to get to work and school each day.

Any suggestions please?

Budget: Under 5 grand.
New or Used: Used (But good shape)
Stock or not: I will probably do some mods to it. (Body kit and things like that.)

It will be a work in progress that I will slowly tinker with. Just need to get rid of this gas hog and get something more gas reliable.

How bout a 90 Si hatch with wings west kit and B18 swap. I get 33-39 mpg with the motor in my CRX and should do close to the same in the hatch. It also gets up and goes nice for what it is...lmk if u'd be interested.

Seeing as some people here have sand in the manginas, I will throw out some suggestions.

Look at www.fueleconomy.gov and find that gets you the best MPG and what looks the best. You can sort by mileage, type, whatever.
