The fair tax...where do you stand?

I did the numbers last year in a thread and came up with an even MORE fair tax. FLAT income tax.....IIRC 12% flat tax across the board w/ no exemptions would pay for everything we currently are funding, including the war in Iraq. Seems better than the ~20% tax proposed by the "fair tax"So you're saying the families/people that are currently struggling to get by even after receiving money would instead have to start paying 12%?

You do realize you currently are already double taxed on everything anyways right?
I'm not saying the "fair tax" is the solution, but the current tax system isn't exactly dandy either. You currently get taxed on your earnings REGARDLESS of whether or not you save every last penny. If you do spend any money you are taxed again on the money you were already taxed on (minimum 6% on purchases). If you save and put the money into some sort of investment, unless you are really smart with your investments you are taxed again on the interest earned on your investments too.
I don't think there is a single person on the planet that fully comprehends the current tax code, thats how fucked up it is right now.

I agree with you on above post, but the "FairTax" is it really fair??/
Taxes are not going to be reduced in any way... It will just be collected by other means and would be starting over.. I am sure it would get just as complicated as it is now as time goes on. That is why there is no rush to change things. They just add more tax codes to the current ones. -

(unless, of course there is some sort of disability preventing you from being able to work...then I can see how it works out to the $28k mark)
