Door to Door Home Security Scam

As some of you may know I work for Honeywell. We have recently been receiving a lot of calls from people around the area asking us about door to door salesmen trying to offer free install of Honeywell security systems provided you post signs in your yard with the companies name on it and sign a 36 month contract with them.
The catch is the monthly fee is $40-50 for monitoring, which is the scam. Regular monthly scanning fees should be $20 MAX, usually closer to $10-15. If someone comes to your door offering you Honeywell security stuff tell them to shove it and leave. 1) Honeywell security isn't part of Honeywell anymore, it was sold awhile back but was allowed to keep the Honeywell name 2) Honeywell doesn't sell door to door (or didn't when it was still in the business) and 3) They would never charge that much for monitoring.

Just a FYI so none of you get suckered in because it sounds like the local area is getting hit by a lot of these door to door guys. The company that is involved in this is Pro-Alarm, which in no way is affiliated with Honeywell. The parts they are selling are parts that can be bought at any local store and are extremely cheap.

These guys hit my house the other day! Tried to sell me a $1500 Home security system for free but i had to pay for monitoring. Sorry but nothing is free so i sent them on their way.

The parts they use are all stuff that can be found in any local store (they are in no way affiliated with Honeywell).

We've been getting calls with people telling us the salesmen are saying they are either WITH Honeywell or that the local Honeywell branch will be servicing systems. If you have someone come to your house and actually tell you something like this, depending on how mean you want to be, you could hold them there and call the police and have them arrested. We have nothing to do with them and they are now crossing over into the false advertising arena...
