RB swap...
-
So I've opened a new savings account and 2/3 of my money goes to it everytime im payed so more than likely i'll be ready to do it next year sometime, thing is im not sure where to find an RB26/25 in the US. Im more than likely gonna have to import one from overseas, so whoever is wantin to help me in any way, feel free to, its gonna be quite the project but im definately all for it, Is there anyone here in fargo that already has a skyline engine in their car? Im hoping not, i want mine to be the only one. But if its not then oh well, either way its gonna be sweet.

i know a guy in grand forks has an rb25 in his 240, but other then that i dont think there is anybody else around here that has on.

In ND that I am aware of there are 2 rb25's both in GF, a rb26, also in GF, and a bunch of RB20s on the west side of the state, i would say 4. All are in 240s.
Why do you want to put a RB in a 300zx anyways? swap it to a vg30dett out of a z32, much easier, well cost you less money, and you won't have to wait 2-3 months for parts. when you brake something.
and the rb25 most of us know about, was pretty much down a cylinder from the start, those motors are often not in the best shape, IMO i would at least do a basic rebuild on the motor before install.

well, i was atleast going to save my money up till my car hits 200,000 on the odometer so i can use the engine to its fullest, and i might do an RB, VG30dett, or VG33dett i would really like to have a good turbo engine, plus i did some research on the net and turns out it wont fit, so now my choices are the VG engines, so more than likely thats what im goin with.

your gonna be able to save $5k+ in the next year? wow you must be good.
BTW, VG30>RB25-26 if your planning on anything under 550whp. Even at 550hp, a VG30 is way cheaper to build. All you need is pistons, ported heads and intake, cams, a big ass turbo and intercooler, that will take you as far as your money will. stock VG cranks are nodular iron, with a nodular iron main girdle, and have been up to 750hp. Stock VG rods are forged, and with ARP bolts, will go to 700+hp. Look here:

3rd on e down, thats Jason from Z31performance i was telling you about. 450whp and 485wtq with a stock bottom end and 93 octane fuel! Just ported heads, cams, intercooler, gutted intake manifold and a small turbo. Also now with the release of Nistune 2 (ROM tuning software), you dont need any engine management, keeping cost much lower still. Look into it

Still sposed to be very fast. But yea, putting that much money into a Z31 is not a good idea in my opinion, mostly because i think they are hideous looking. My opinion would be to save up money and buy a different car and keep yours for a beater/spare car. Otherwise carberated SBC swap would probably be the easiest.

I was at first wanting a 240SX, but the 300zx came along, its a nice car and all, but i want more power out of it, so it sounds like its engine now has some power to it (if im actually going to keep it) but right now im wanting more power, i look at everyone's car and want something as fast as them, so i guess im needin money and a little devotion, my Z31 will be the fastest one in fargo.....or at least faster than all the cars out here where i live.
-
it will be fast, but i assure you, it wont be the fastest one in the area. jason (Z31 on here) will probably always have the fastest 300. BUT, yours is the fastest at the moment, as his motor is on the stand waiting to go back in.
BTW, you should really come check out his car sometime, might give you some ideas.

yeah, perty sure jason will always have thatI beleive he has a second z31 with a SBC going in it
SHHHHHHH!!! :icon_rr:
BTW, we just pulled his stock motor out, it had over 180k on it, and looked like new inside. So just start collecting some stock turbo manifolds and stuff that motor will last alot longer.
Read everything on that webpage. that car is fast, not to mention it pulls like 1.1g's on the skidpad.
