Silver painted shift plate (Bandwith Warning).

What I spent my Sunday afternoon doing.

The paints

Before

I've wanted to get an aluminum shiftplate for sometime now, and finally spoke to a manufacturer. He told me that his plates were not up to par with the quality he first expected when producing the plate. We moved on to looking at other options, and this was it. It seemed a bit ghetto; I'm not one to jump into something like this, but... I did. I think it looks great, exactly what I was looking for. In stock form the plate was all scratched up, and didn't look all that good.
Here's the process:
- Remove boot and shiny trim (very easy).
- Sand with 240 grit paper
- Spray with BRAKE cleaner to remove anything
- Allow to dry and apply silver spray paint
- Allow to dry and apply gloss clearcoat enamel
- Reinstall boot and trim - DONE.
Let me know what you think. This can be done on almost any interior with plastic trim pieces, just don't get too crazy.

In reply to STiChucky.
My next interior mod is to get my radar hardwired, and set up a custom mute button with two "on" and "alert" l.e.d.'s. Unfortunately I busted up my front bumper on a snowboarding trip last weekend. I got stuck on the hill... backed up...
But with bad comes good. I'm headin up to the cities this weekend to get an RS4 bumper on.
