Fuck Douchebags
-
So I began my first welding job about 2 1/2 months ago and I absolutely loved it. Couldn't be more happy at work doing what im doing. Great people and a semi-laid back atmosphere. Im a pretty laid back guy and don't like alot of confrontation so I usually just brush shit off and move on. Well about a month ago shit started going downhill and fast. This guy I work with started harassing me at work and it started to get to the point where its now sexual harassment. Now I put up with for about the last 3 weeks and last night was my breaking point. I had enough. I talked to my supervisor and I filed a complaint and as soon as we get back into the shop the motherfucker asks what we were doing and we came up with some bullshit answer. Well about 10 minutes later he comes up to me with this sheet of paper in his hand. FUCKER WROTE me up for something petty that happened 5 hours earlier. And to top it all off this motherfucker is like 50 years old and has like 30+ years in the welding industry and fucking pulling all this shit. So to all the douchebags out there... THIS ONES FOR YOU... FUCK YOU!
\rant
*Those who know where I work please don't spread the shop name around on this subject.

Just go talk to the man, you know, the guy the business is named after. he'll take care of it, he's cool like that. on the other hand, if you go above someone's head, they will not like it. I learned that the hard way. Just tell the person straight up that if they dont stop, you'll talk to their boss. that usually scares them, if they retaliate or dont stop, then you talk to the next tier up.

or you could just man up and deal with it... is it that bad?

You work with who I would call peers... and have never really worked in a Industrial environment besides SLS. It's hard to grasp the shit thats thrown around in a metal shop unless you've worked it. Having someone who is around your age mess with you is one thing, but some old douche bag who gives you a nickname or does something and never stops because they are above you is hard to ignore for an extended period of time before a. you heat a piece of solid, sharpen it and stab him in the eye. b. stop coming to work. or c. tell someone above them about it. happened to me at DMI...
Dealing with it works if you one up them and do it back, but after a while, it just stops working... -
Tell him what he is doing that you do not like.
Also, you can go higher up then just the owner(sexual harassment is a crime and can get people fired). I have had fellow employees and a manager fired for it the one was on the spot no warnings(and its a lot harder to fire people in MN then ND)

If he wrote you up after finding that you signed a complaint, that is called retaliation. I would again go talk to your supervisor, and tell him what happens. If they're smart they'll take care of that, as that is the sort of shit that leads to law suits.

sexually harassed by a man huh? does your butt hurt or what?

Going into work. I think upper management is planning a suprise visit.
Oh and Groshan, its not that I can't deal with it its just that im not going to tolerate it anymore.

You actually filed a sexual harassment complaint against a dude you work with?!?!? WTF? If I filed a complaint for every time I've been "sexually harassed" by the dudes I work with no one would work there...including me. Man up!!! It's called working in a shop. Guys have fun dicking around like that. Get used to it.

Everyone deals with some bullshit like that. Some people just take it way too far. Ethan knows all about this ;). Nobdy HAS to deal w/ anything like that. And if it bothers someone that badly, they definitely have the right to file a complaint, or even press charges. Get something on video or audio tape so you have cold hard evidence.

I'll make sexual jokes all day long with people and we have no issues with it. At the same time, someone who wasn't part of our group would look pretty weird coming in with the same stuff. I had a manger back at McDonalds who was like that, really creepy guy, and I was pretty close to doing something about him. Fortunately he went crazy and left the state.

The fact that you filed a complaint and then he retaliated by writing you up, I believe, is illegal. You should have literature made available to you at work. If you have not read it I suggest you do and if you have reread it. If things are really "that bad" then maybe you need yo seek new employment or a consult a lawyer. I can't say I've been sexually harassed myself but I've had people say some rude and rediculas shit shit to me and I now they weren't just kidding around. I usually just chalk them up to ignorance.
