couldn't you just diconnect the rear driveshaft like Kevin and nick did? -

If you don't have that...it will burn up the viscous coupler, not the center diff. I know you meant to say that...I am just being bored, so I thought I would clarify.

Hmmm....ok, your description makes more sense than mine, however I have heard of subie owners burning out diffs when they just unhooked the driveshafts...but maybe they were confused too.
