Good Job CMK

I dont know if many people on here will know what i'm talking about....but i'll try to explain it a little. At NDSU we have our school newspaper called The Spectrum, and a couple times a year they have a special issue that comes out which they call The Rectum, which is basically a spoof paper as a joke. Anyways, some ignorant people were taking offense to some of what was written, saying it's racist and degrading and stuff like that, when it's all just a joke to begin with and everyone knows this, there is even a disclaimer on it... Well last week a assistant director of the communications department wrote a letter to the editors completely flamming them and calling for action against them, which was totaly wrong. Anyways CMK wrote a response letter to the editor, pretty much tearing that bitch a new in a very well written letter. I wish I could post up the different letters, because he did one hell of a good job and put it very well...

Damn, I wish I coulda read that hahaa. First time I saw that paper I thought it was sooo funny, so i showed it to someone else and they were like "How can people get away with publishing this?!?!" Um... it's a joke, grow a set of nads and learn to take it as as a joke....

Good job.
I'm taking 1 graduate class this semester and I get about 10 emails a day from various bullshit departments at my NDSU account. I remember reading one of them that was like "the diversity council will hold an emergency meeting at the multi-cultural center to discuss the hurtful comments in the latest issue of the Spectrum".
I have no idea wha the spectrum is or what the "hurtful comments" were, but anything that causes an emergecny meeting of the sissies-that-spam-me-all-the-fucking-time-about-irrelevant-shit club must be pretty awesome.

Umm...not really. Do you even know what happened?A bunch of pansies got pissed off over a non-issue and feel that they should live in a world where nobody gets offended...that's what happened.

Whoopdedoo who gives a shit?
They also said something about Native American' being alcoholics too didn't they? Who cares, of course it'll offend people, we don't live in a country that protects us from being offended.
Family Guy/South Park have been mocking Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hispanics, Blacks, Whites, (insert other religion or ethnicity) for years. It's part of the world we live in, get over it or get the fuck out.
I doubt there would have been this big of an uproar if it had been a middle eastern person portrayed as a terrorist yet the analogy would be the same and probably just as offensive.

I don't know anything about the Spectrum. I went to ndsu.edu, typed "spectrum" in the search box. Here was the summary for the first search hit
The Spectrum is published by and for North Dakota State University students under the First Ammendment guarantees of free speech and a free press. Opinions expressed on these pages are not necessarily those of the student body, faculty, staff or university administration.
Neo Nazi's can publish news letters saying whatever they want, unless it is the specific instruction or incitement to cause a crime. That's federally protected. The same protections that apply to the Spectrum.
This really re-inforces my argument that too many people are going to college (or maybe it makes the argument that not enough are?). Either way -- people that are too dense to understand Free Speech means hearing things they don't like, or too assinine to accept that there could be a worldview other than their own -- exist in this country, and you see them an awful lot teaching and attending colleges.
I suggest the film "Indoctrinate U" for a bit of an expose about how ridiculous mono-ideologism has become in the US university system.

Unfortuneately, that doesn't help anyone see it any time soon. It screened in Minneapolis a week or two ago, but I don't know how to get it generally. I haven't seen it yet myself. The guy that wrote/directed it runs a blog here where he occasionally talks about it and where it's going to be playing next:
