Need some advice

So a friend of mine came to town to get some parts. I met him at the Loaf and Jug on University by NDSU. We both went in and bought stuff, then I went with him in his car leaving my car there. The was no sign saying that you can't lave your car there for a certain amount of time. When we get there (Maybe a hour and a half later) a tow truck was pulling in, I hopped in my car and the guy boxed me in. He demanded $100 or he's going to impound my car. i didn't have that kind of money on me and he pretty much said tough shit and they wouldnt let me leave. Then he was like oh well i'd take $50... So after a little while and me getting very pissed I threw $50 at him and basically told him to get out of my way so I could get out of there and go home... Is this even legal?? There were no signs up saying that I couldnt park there or leave my car there or anything, and it's not like I wasnt a customer and it's not like there's ever enough cars there where parking is a problem.... Is there anything I can do about this?

I woulda threatened to call the police. Fuck it, I would have just called and screw the threatening. He CANT make you pay him unless hes actuall hooked up and has the vehicle in his possesion. And that's not entirely etched in stone either. Brandon, you pussy... Grow a set, would ya?

Started with a H... Is there anything I can do about it anymore? I figured it was better than letting my temper go off and go to jail...cuz the breaker bar was about a foot from my hand and I didnt feel like almost killing someone, cuz that's probably what would have happend...

I talked to my Business Law professor, who happens to be a lawyer. He told me to talk to the States Attorney because it was extortion and false inprisonment... After that I went to the Loaf and Jug to see if it was a manager there. I took pics of the whole side of the building where my car was, not 1 sign stating no parking and stuff like that. I went inside and no manager, but the kid that called the car in was there. I asked for the towing company (which was Harry's if anyone is wondering), and he proceded to tell me to ask next time I leave my car there for so long. I told him that there were no signs stating that I cant do so, and he got lippy and said the other side (which was completely out of view) does. I went to the other side took pics of the signs which said "Customer parking only - No loitering". I looked in my pocket and found a recipt for the pack of smokes I bought when I got there last night (meaning I was a customer). And as far as I know, I wasnt physically there, meaning I wasnt loitering.
I then went and called Harry's Towing and talked to the person in charge there. I was told him what happend and he said ya I talked to the guy while he was doing that to you. The $50 was a charge to show up. Dude was being a total douchebag to me. I nicely asked him for my money to be refunded to me as the means they did it was illegal and stated that it was extortion and false inprisonment, he said "Well that's how we do things". I told him since he wasnt cooperating I was going to call the State Attorney's office and file a complaint, he basically said whatever and hung up on me...

Idk which one I talked to, I forgot. The guy that was trying to tow it was bout my height and kinda skinny, I think there was a chick with darker medium length hair with him too...he's lucky I didnt freak out on him and beat the hell out of him...cuz there's a breaker bar between my seat and doors at all times, and I havent gotten to use it yet...

Seems like Harry's towing has contracts with most of the apartment complexes around here. Good luck on getting your money back - I'd check with the store managers at Loaf & Jug about their towing policy and contract, if they have one. File a complaint against the guy who called your car in if he violated store policy. Not much else you can do without going into the legal system and spending more money.

I was gonna talk to the managers at the station...if that doesnt work go to district managers (usually shit like that works, if someone is gonna go to our DM at work most ppl bend over backwards and give them what they want)... I went there today to double check. There are NO signs stating a time limit on parking and NO signs they say anything about cars getting towed. Also there were NO signs in the front of the building at all, only on the back side of it, which wasnt visible to me at all, and even them say CUSTOMERS ONLY, which I was...I even have the credit card slip saying I had been in there and bought stuff, and I was actually going to go back in there to get more stuff before I went home that night... And I made sure to take pictures of both sides of the building and the signs as well, so that they dont try to put up something different... I dont care all that much if I get the money back, course I could really use it, was my last $50 bucks till payday and I had to rummage up cash to even get home today. I just want them to realize they fucked with the wrong person and to learn not to pull that shit on someone else...if nothing else i'll just introduce them to my dad, lol...
