Depends where you live. I had the Qwest DSL package and was getting only slightly better than Dialup speeds (verified by multiple broadband speed test sites...averaged around 86kbps.)

I know others that love it however, but anyone on my block who's tried it hated it and switched back.

Yes, before they sell you DSL they should do a look up and see how many repeaters are in the line between you and the CO. If you got that bad of speed, someone screwed up even selling it to you.

ive had Qwest DSL for a while now and its pretty good once i got a modem that was worth a crap. Also the tech that installed it was telling me a big thing with DSL is to find out where the nearest repeater or server relay is, he said typpicaly DSL can only run about 3 to 5 miles (in some cases less) on a run without a repeater. luckily im only half a block from the local server relay, so connection is fairly decent. ive had some relatives using cableone, one was banned for downloading (riaa complaint or some sh%^) 🙂 the others have not said bad nor good of it i guess.

                    Which modem do you have?

I had Qwest DSL multiple times, once w/ an Intel model, and two actiontec modems...

The modems that came from Qwest are refurbished Actiontec gt701r models, and they were usless, i had 3 before i quit dealing with Qwest to replace them. i have since bought a Actiontec gt701wg the main difference is the it is wireless and has newer firmware, oh yeah, it is not refurbished! lol the 701wg seems to be a really good modem. although if i had a choice id probably buy either a intel or a motorola modem.

Bought mine at Best Buy...so I'd like to think it wasn't a refurb.
