whats exactly "blown" on the motor?
I would fix the stock on or swap to B series. Solid z6 and y8 motors are an endangered species these days.
and BTW, you should be proud of yourself, not many people can blow up a stock d series motor w/o any major mods... let me guess you were running 87 octane gas?

    No, thats just your issues.

87 octane prob. had 0 to do with it. There are way more things that can ruin a motor then the gas.

    PM me for:
    Sandblasting(I use glass beads)
    Diesel repairs or performance products.

ya it was a mini me and i only run 91 octane in my cars. What caused it is the timing belt slipped and caused the valve to shoot through the piston. So ya. and it was a d15b1 bottom end and a d16z6 head. I put it together for around 100 bucks including the cost of the bottom end (i already had the head)

oh and when you are building a car for a specific race class and motor swaps are forbiddin, you have a tendency to stick with something you like and want to build up.

^I do not think Tenzos are not even FIA approved. You got slicks on that thing? If not you are not going to compete with the auto-xers down there. Look for some Kirkly Aluminum seats, cheap. And, IIRC you need a cage to do the Honda Challenge.

But for Auto-x, the cage is going to take you out of "stock" class, not sure where it moves you to, but it will probably be to a class swaps are just fine. If you are getting one get a custom made one.

actually i will be running DSP where a cage is considered legal, but a swap is not. I do not run slicks for the class i am in, i must run a dot approved tire. And you dont need to run slicks in honda challenge either. The sanctioned tire for the honda challenge was the toyo ra-1 and from what i gathered that is not a slick.

And why would i go with an aluminum kirkey race seat when i can get a recaro or sparco that is approved? This car is not a fully built race car as of this point and is still a daily driver, at least once it gets a motor put into it.

With my suspension mods and minor engine mods i was out of stock class a long time ago, i have been autocrossing since 2002 and also competed in a couple nasa sanctioned events until a bump and off road excursion led to a totalled car and a hurt back.

So to be competitive down here you need skill, not tire, even though tire helps you do not need a slick to be competitive in a parking lot. Oh and i have a friend that has a full race prepped eclipse, and hes not on slicks, last i heard he was on a ra-1 set of take offs.

Stock seats on the streets, race seats on the course. and they are cheap compaired to a recaro. Thats what I have thought about.

When I auto-xed in Sioux falls, I have never had that bad of traction/grip problems ever and I had my boost all the way down. It was like a ice rink. I am not saying i am a good driver. My friends that came down there to auto-x also had the same issues I did.

not to sound like a dick or anything but you just confused the shit outta me with that last post. I wasnt talking about having traction issues or anything like that. Maybe i misinterpreted your other post as saying that i needed slicks to be competitive in this area.

So please if you could let me know what you are talking about just so that way things can be clarified and all confusion can end. Thanks.

I know driver skill is the key to 95% of racing.

What I was saying was that when I auto-xed in Souix Falls, having street tires sucked. Not sure if it was just that parking lot or something else. But the 3 of us that went all had issues with tire grip when doing our runs(we all had good tires). We asked some of the people there, and they were all like WTF, there is no issues. But over 1/2 the cars that were actaully somewhat modded all were running R-comps/slicks or what ever and the rest were ricers. I hope that helps you understand what I was trying to say.
