SACRAMENTO MAN CONVICTED OF USING THE INTERNET TO THREATEN TO KILL
MEMBERS OF HEAVY METAL GROUP, KORN
SACRAMENTO—United States Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced today that ADRIAN J.
C. McCOY, 23, of Sacramento, pleaded guilty today to a single count of making interstate threats to
injure another. McCOY entered his guilty plea before United States District Court Judge Edward J.
Garcia.
The case is a product of an investigation by the Sacramento Violent Crimes Task Force, which
includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rodriguez, who prosecuted this case,
McCOY threatened to kill members of a heavy metal rock band residing in the Eastern District of
California and in the Southern California area. Specifically, on September 20, 2007, via Internet from
Sacramento, McCOY sent threatening communications to the FBI’s Web site in Washington, D.C. In the
communications, McCOY stated that in addition to his plan to harm the rock band members, he intended
to kill the band’s family and FBI agents responding to his acts of violence.
McCOY faces a sentence of up to five years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, and a threeyear
term of federal supervised release. McCOY is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Garcia on April
