You don't lose a 1/4 of a second per shift, although it may take you that long to shift, your vehicle is still rolling so it you aren't losing that much time.

True for those that only go in straight lines, not so much for those that like to choose the right gear for coming out of a corner. If you lose a 1/4 of a second every time you shift you have no business driving at a strip.

a tunable electric tranny or manual valve body hydraulic tranny give you no options .....:icon_scratch:

wrong......... my car lost massive time between shifts.........

I guarantee you changing my car from the 5 speed to a properly setup auto and leaving everything else identical would have dropped a second off my ET

boost and autos only make sense

a dogbox would be fun ripping gears though, and sound schweeet

I've heard they have some pretty big meets down in the cities, hopefully this summer i'll go down there and check some of them out.. Only thing i'm worried about down there is being away from my car for more than a minute or two.. Seems like hondas have a bad case of disappearing down there...

Ok you got me there but who puts something that has that many part that can go wrong in a race car, when a stick is simpler, lighter, and more reliable for that type of racing. In drag racing a good auto is the norm because its faster, but take two bone stok cars with all the same equipment, dave for the trannys, and race em the stick will come out on top in almost every way, probibly including drag. It certainly would not be a full second slower in the quarter mile just because it has a stick.
