I got a sand blast cabinet last week and been trying to find a decent deal on media but no luck yet. It seems no one stocks it. So anyone got a good idea where I can get some?

HF only has aluminum oxide, glass beads, and walnut shells. AlO2 is $20/25lbs, 70 grit. Glass is same price, 80 grit. Walnut shells are $25/25lbs.

I picked up their 110lb pressure blaster (non-cabinet) this weekend on crazy sale to try and clean up some radiators (like, for an old house). The paint was 1mm thick and the glass didn't do anything. AlO2 was unbearably slow. The paint chipped and scraped off faster.

Anyone got any thoughts on how to clean these up? Scraping and chipping followed up by the blaster is the best idea i've got, but it's going to take forever to do the whole house..

We use glass bead. I have not had a problem with it not taking stuff off.

What nozzle and air supply are you using? The glass didn't even make a scratch. To be fair, i had on a 3.5mm nozzle (too big) and the feed valve WOT on the blaster at first, but changing tips and feed settings didn't seem to make the glass work. The AlO2 eventually started cutting once we ran a 2.5mm tip and a moderate feed setting on the media, but it was very, very slow cutting.

                    You need coal slag

Also, replace the hoses on that blaster with decent ones as the ones that are on there are cheap china heater hoses and they WILL split soon.

do you mean for "soda blasting" ? apparently it leaves a thin anti-corrosive film on the metal so you can let it sit onger before painting. My last Eastwood catalog talks about it.
